I’m actually heated about this. I don’t want to go on and on about it because it’s done but this should have been a layup and we completely botched it.
First time since he got the job that I’m looking at Pat a little sideways.

OT but this kids recruitment is weird: Georgia St? I know people often say this after a recruit cuts their team from his list and it comes off as sour grapes, but I spoke with someone who knows this young man very well about a month ago and trust me, we dodged a bullet here. I won't go into detail but yeah ...

Strange mixture of schools...thought he had already scheduled an official visit to us... Dad is calling the shots and apparently, the stigma of Georgetown being a "big man" school still looms large for certain prospects. Oh well ...

Without having no real idea where a kid sits on a school's priority list and whether or not they would accept his commitment, it's almost laughable to say an offer alone means much of anything these days.
I coach a kid who wanted to commit to a school that "offered" him face to face yet he hasn't heard a peep from them for over five months. It's dumb but it's just how it is.

To the people saying DePaul has nothing to lose by being in this tournament, let me ask, what exactly do we have to lose? Have you been on another planet the last two years? Do I have to go down the list of times where we thought we hit rock bottom as a program and now we have a golden opportunity to play in a tournament like this one and we're saying, "Nah, we're good, don't want to hurt the brand" ... huh?!?!?!?!
Personally, I've been looking forward to this since it was initially announced and was happy that we were going to have a golden opportunity to get better as a team on such a huge platform and now I'm just relieved I didn't book my travel yet.

Awful decision anyway you slice it. Worst case, we go and lose but we have visibility in a unique tournament on ESPN that every kid in America is going to watch. Best case, we go and actually win a game or two in a unique tournament on ESPN that every kid in America is going to watch. Although we've been bad the last few years, we got an invite because we've been a Nike school forever and it would've been a good platform to introduce a new era for our program.
You also can't deny the optics of it appearing as if Georgetown of all programs is flat out ducking wreck.
Makes no sense.

No mention in that article could explain the retweets from Hoya fans on his timeline. He wants the staff to step it up and is subbing them using us.
Whatever it takes. Local and exactly the kind of player we should be targeting at his position.

We need to reach out to him ASAP! He's been heavily rumored to Maryland for over a month once he got his release. I'd be stunned if he doesn't end up there. I've never been so happy to be so wrong. I have a lot of gloating to do to some people who are shell-shocked - pun intended - right now. Awesome job by the staff. We needed this.

Watching him vs Brad Beal Elite and it's startling how much more comfortable he is running the show. Really putting it all together.
Want.

Maryland still likely the front runner but our chances are better than they were before our visit. Apparently our visit went well. Heard it was a "everything but the kitchen sink" type of recruiting pitch. Whatever it takes.

Just wondering if you think that's because UMD, Turgeon, Broadus, or other reasons? Apparently Dustin Clark is leading on this for MD and has done a great job closing. I would love to be wrong because he's a real talent and could start for us, but like I said, this has been the worst kept secret in local recruiting for a while now.

Didn't make his final 8: Miami, Xavier, Maryland, West Virginia, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Kansas and something called SUU. The one kid I really wanted in 2018. *smdh* Anywhere but Maryland or Xavier.

Just wondering if you think that's because UMD, Turgeon, Broadus, or other reasons? Not 100% sure who he has the connection with. Connecting the dots, I would assume Broadus. But again, his release has been in the works for a minute.
