Am I the only one who read USC-upstate coach's comments as having some shade aimed at us. Seemed like he said I have no idea if Georgetown is any good - they just hurt us with the press because we didn't know what we were doing but I doubt that will work on a better team.
Or am I being too sensitive?

Personally I would not. Btw, let's be clear about this. This started with Kapernick as a protest of how minorities are treated in this country TODAY. When the assumption is made that it is the third verse (which is never used) of the national anthem, we are simply trying to find another reason for this protest. Let's not misdirect what these athletes are saying simply because it's easier to for the rest of us. If you are going to support this team or any other in this protest, don't kid yourself. It is America "as is" not the anthem... If you don't see how our country's past thoughts beliefs and actions against minorities directly links to how we are treated TODAY then what do you think is the root cause of racism?

This screams of "have your protest just don't bother me with it". That mentality is why you will see more of it. The most hurtful part for this African American when issues like these arise there'e a large portion of the public who think these issues are made up or not warranted.. I would read up on the the lyrics of the 3rd verse of the National Anthem as well , not exactly words every black person can get behind.. To me, the anthem and the flag represent ideals that we strive for, and clearly have not always attained. And yes, it also honors sacrifices that have been made along the way. It does not validate every action America has ever taken. I understand the point being made, but I wish people would look forward, not backward. And yes, I know that simplifies a very complicated issue. Why do you think a protest is looking backwards?

Peak is the only guy who has earned a starting position.
After that I see Mulmore, Pryor, Copeland, Derrickson, White, Agau, Govan, and Hayes fighting for the other 4 starting spots in practice, but all getting 10+ min.
Campbell, Cameron, Johnson, and Mourning seem like situational guys.
Mosley I'm not sure if he's situational or more solidly in the rotation.

Funny how the cops didn't notice all the other people at the park not running away from the gun.

So we are on the main Fox broadcast network four times and on CBS twice. Looks like the rest of our games are in pretty good time slots on FS1. Hopefully we've got a team that can back all of this up, but we really can't complain about the lack of exposure this year. Oh, and I'm pretty sure that Bill Raftery has never called any games on FOX, and I assume his CBS contract prohibits that. So he's not going to be calling the Syracuse game unless things have changed. I'm counting 3 CBS games: Villanova @uconn Butler

I'm confused why this is even a discussion. They are numerous duties you might be assigned as a government official that are in violation of your beliefs.
If you want the job you have to be willing to do the job, otherwise you have to resign.

Therein lies the problem of tossing about this nebulous concept of a "hate crime." No such thing as a "hate crime" anyway (or maybe, ALL murders are "hate crimes"). I've hardly ever heard of anybody killing someone because they really liked them a lot. Few terms are created or maintained in an exact or consistent way, unfortunately, especially when they deal with heinous things. The work that the term is supposed to be doing is to describe violence that is less organized or coherent than outright terrorism but that is nonetheless committed with the intent to intimidate and coerce a particular identity group. To say that most killers aren't particularly fond of the people they kill misses the point, because it is not about the specific dynamics between the perpetrator and the victim, it's about the actions of the perpetrator in relation to society and the body politic. There is the crime against the person, and then there is the crime against the people. In a democratic society, especially one as pluralistic as ours, it is understood that violence, intimidation, and targeting of people on the basis of their identity is especially damaging and undermines the functioning of our system. It throws a wrench in democracy, so democracy is particularly invested in preventing and punishing it. This is the same logic that explains why not hiring someone because you didn't like them in an interview is perfectly ok, but not hiring someone because they're black and you don't like black people is illegal. It's not about whether you like someone or not, it's about what impact your actions have on our society and system of government. It's also supposed to be used when the crime itself isn't one that carries much of a punishment but the intent is psychological fear. For instance cross burning on someone's yard is likely only a fine for trespassing but since it's used as a threat of violence.

Another piece of the puzzle. Monmouth University (West Long Branch, NJ; 18-15 last season, 13-7 in MAAC competition) released their schedule yesterday afternoon, and will be playing at Georgetown on December 15; no game time was announced. The Hawks are coached by King Rice, and will also be playing non-conference games at UCLA, Southern Cal, Drexel, Rutgers, Cornell and Army; they will be in the AdvoCare Invitiational in Orlando over Thanksgivingh weekend as well, and will be playing Notre Dame, Dayton or Iowa, and one of Xavier, Alabama, Wichita State and Southern Cal. According to the front page that should conclude our non conference schedule. Assuming we open big east play on dec 31st again, last non-Conf game before big east play will be dec 22 at UNC Charlotte
