Didn't Sydney Johnson leave Princeton for Fairfield because he got a salary bump from something like $200,000 per year to $500,000 per year?

Does JTIII have a coaching brain trust and who's in it? Who does he talk to / will he talk to this offseason about changes to the offense and the defense?

hubert's critique was fine. greg monroe is shooting 67% from the field and should be able to score pretty easily in the post against most competition. he's getting 1.85 points per shot, so the idea that we should go to him more often is fine with me. the offense is still coming together but i hope more post play for both greg and dajuan is in the pipeline.
hubert is one of the better analysts on espn and, being a good analyst, has often praised georgetown over the last 3 years.

roy played in the game two days after the ankle sprain--i think he played 14 minutes or something, so i would expect that he would be ready to go tonight too

very glad to hear that jason is such a great rebounder...hopefully he'll make it so we won't give up 10 offensive boards/game to the pitt guards this year!

giga, i am totally with you that rebounding can be taught and also that there's no guarantees that vaughn and sims will board better than austin or dajuan. it certainly seems monroe will immediately become a better rebounder than anyone we had on the roster last year so that's encouraging. dajuan showed flashes of jeff green quality rebounding last year, but for me the effort wasn't consistent enough for a 4, especially with roy being an average rebounder. i just felt if we had jeff green (or a rebounder of that ilk) in those memphis and pitt games last year, we would have won those games (even without jeff green's special offensive talent)

for me one of austin or jessie should come off the bench so as to make room for two real bigs to emphasize rebounding in the starting lineup. many of the games we lost last year were games in which we got owned on the boards, esp. the offensive glass (memphis, pitt in the BET). our shooting percentages in those games were fine, but we couldnt manage to keep dozier, taggart, sam young, even keith benjamin off the offensive glass. even with sapp or austin coming off the bench, our starting five will have plenty of offensive firepower--i just don't see the point in having another scoring threat out there when we've already got wright, dajuan, monroe and one of jessie or austin. i loved our defensive toughness last year and our defensive shooting percentage was top 5 in the nation, but our defensive efficiency numbers were more modest because we gave some teams second chances. neither dajuan nor austin are high on rebounding so if having two real bigs out there helps us solve that problem, i will trade that for any real or perceived hit to the offense.
having someone like austin or jessie off the bench is going to help ensure some offensive continuity, too.

i like roy going to utah b/c i think it's one of the better fits for him to succeed. i'd like roy to go in the lottery to vindicate his decision and rep the program, but more than other players, he's a guy who needs to be in a place that emphasizes halfcourt offense so utah is great
the centers in this draft are: brook lopez
deandre jordan javale mcgee mareese speights roy koufos (prob a PF)
apart from brook lopez, who's a clear top 5, there's gonna be a lot of movement among the next 5 centers once workouts ramp up. decisions are gonna depend on how well they work out and team fit. i can only see deandre jordan's stock dropping over the next month as teams find out more about him.
the bulls have a variety of good-not great scorers and shooters from the wings (gordon, hinrich, nocioni, deng) but their most glaring need is low-post offense. if roy stayed in the draft last year, i def think bulls would have taken him over noah at ten. chicago media and community will kill them, but i'd recommend trading down to 4 to get brook lopez. it all depends on the new coach and where paxson wants to take the team

it's hard to argue that ucla is soft with three FFs in a row and a clearly elite, hard-nosed defensive system. they still have lacked the elite offensive players to get over the hump. afflalo, josh shipp and collison are not chris douglas roberts, derrick rose, or sherron collins.
i fully agree that unc is soft and will remain soft as long as roy is the coach. he just doesn't do defense and the acc looks to continue to be an average conference. there were numerous games this year where roy subbed out all the starters after 4-5 minutes b/c they were getting whupped by some elite acc team like bc or virginia tech. the only reason their defensive efficiency is moderately high is because they have had great defensive rebounding. the '05 carolina team had a sick amount of talent (read = recruiting) with four players going in the first 15 picks of that draft. esh could have won a national championship with that roster.
if stephenson wants an NC, carolina def ain't the place.

Good luck, Vern! i wish you were staying around as I was expecting you to have a very solid year in 08-09 alongside monroe in the starting lineup. I will miss the running hook!

Hi all, i'm about to buy tickets for the first and second rounds in philly next year (ncaa.com will link you to ticketmaster at $220/seat for all philly sessions that weekend). does anyone know how the ncaa assigns seating if you just buy tickets for a specific site? ticket assignment seems to be via lottery so i'm guessing seating might be that way too. if i'm gonna be in the back of the upper deck, i'm not gonna bother buying seats. thanks!

Good luck with your studies Chris. We look forward to welcoming you to Georgetown!
Also, lic mentioned that Iverson graduated. is this common knowledge? I have always been curious whether allen actually did come back to graduate

don't see comparison at all. it's a junk comparison.
roy was 9-11 from the field in the ncaa, 20-33 from the field in the BET. that he didn't take more shots was mostly the fault of his teammates for not feeding the post or refs for calling ticky-tack stuff on him. aaron gray sucks; roy just wasn't allowed to show off his game. when he did, he was great.
