This guy is funny, the Baylor women's coach is insane, and the Big East is back in the Final Four!

Another Final Four caliber coach in the BE is only a good thing. The media and fans have focused more on star coaches than players in college basketball forever. Now that you may only have a player for four months, not four years, coaches that are treated like stars are probably even more valuable. At least for now, Shaka should still be seen as enough of a star to boost the profile of the Big East as a whole.

Other than maybe the PAC 12 (we'll see after tomorrow), I don't think any conference is going to get to scream that they overperformed this year. Everyone has taken some hits already.

Would rather give up dunks than another wide open 3.

This had better be a flagrant 2.

What the players are going through in the bubble has to be bizarre at best, and I know this isn't a normal tournament. But this feels as close to "normal" a big sports event has been since the Chiefs-49ers Super Bowl. Today has just been great.

Question, have times been released for round of 32 games? Just wondering when the winner of the Hoya game would be playing on Monday. Trying to book travel and that's a vital piece of information. Those are all TV decisions so they don't announce anything until they know the match-ups. They wouldn't list the times (and maybe not even the locations) for the Monday games until very late Saturday night.

Can't complain about the time or anything else. But by time I wrap my head around the schedule, the tournament will be over (and hopefully we never have to do this again). Looks like some venues have two games a day, some have three, and the times can be wildly spread out. Also, teams that will face each other in the next round will be playing at the same time, and the winners will all play in a different location in the next round. Looks like they are aiming for maximum complexity. Hopefully, everyone in charge is on the same page. Otherwise, some team bus is going to show up at the wrong arena!

Believing in yourself: Just look at this team and Coach and staff. They believed. They earned it and now they are Champions. NCAA Tournament bound. We are Georgetown. Go Hoyas! If you can combine belief, trust in your teammates, and that level of effort, look out. I'm just floored by what we saw.

I didn't really have a preference as to who we'd play tomorrow, but I was getting a little queasy with the thought of UConn just walking back in and winning the BET. It shouldn't be that easy, and it's not.

Not sure if "indefinitely suspended" means McDermott will be back for the Big East Tournament, but it doesn't sound like it from this.

Two months ago, I didn't think it was going to bother me that I couldn't go to the Big East Tournament this year. Now...it's really starting to bother me.

We’ve seen plenty of ill-advised passes, but I honestly can’t remember seeing so many that miss their target by this much. Is there some kind of gravity issue in Chicago today? After the past year, nothing would surprise me anymore...

Did we not pay the lighting bill? It looks like retro Cap Centre lighting in there.

And, while this is snarky and funny, it also, IMO, points to a much larger issue. Just as Ed said he would "join" me in denouncing, he and millions of others remain silent. Worse, millions continue to refuse to admit that their guy lost in a free and fair election. Yes, the active refusal is horrific and problematic but the silence is, while less horrific, greatly damaging as it can be perceived as tacit agreement/support for those inciting violence. Actually I come to the B&G board seldom lately since it's repeated more and more of the same anti-Trump and belittling any who support anything associated with Trump. In my family and to others I come in contact with I have been outspoken in criticizing Trump. I hope he goes away and doesn't come back. He could have been a good president (to me) as I liked much of his agenda but his mouth got the best of him. I hope all Americans will join in and support President Biden in his efforts to keep America safe and prosperous. I hope Republicans will not give him the kind of treatment Democrats and the press gave to Trump from day one. I will do my part in trying to bring us together as one. Hope you will join me. A first step in bringing us together would be for President Biden to pardon Trump of any possible federal offenses. We can’t even consider any clemency for Trump unless he looks into a camera & tells his supporters to stand down by saying, “I lost the election, and Joe Biden is the legitimate President.” It would be suicide to pardon an arsonist who is still trying to burn the house down.

The party of our HoyaTalk Republicans as they remain curiously silent. Anyone who paid attention to Trump’s rhetoric and polling of his supporters would have seen that “Make America Great Again” — a call to return to the way America used to be — is rooted in white supremacy. That was evident at the violent attack at the Capitol. We did not see people carrying “Save the factories!” or “More jobs!” signs. The insurrectionists told us exactly who they were. As The Post reported on Thursday: “Dozens of people on a terrorist watch list were in Washington for pro-Trump events Jan. 6 … [and] the majority of the watch-listed individuals in Washington that day are suspected white supremacists whose past conduct so alarmed investigators that their names had been previously entered into the national Terrorist Screening Database.” www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/01/15/seditionists-cleared-up-lot-myths/We need to have a two part office pool around here: Who will be the first to reemerge after 12 noon on the 20th, and what will be the "outrage" that awakens them from their long winter's nap? Biden's sunglasses? Someone referring to Jill Biden as Dr.? A sudden furrowed brow over the deficit? Or maybe anger over a comment made by a lower-level celebrity? The possibilities are endless! My money would be on that guy Puthath from a couple of years ago, and he'd be ranting about something innocuous that Kamala Harris says. But that's only if he can figure out how to register with a new account, so I wouldn't bet the farm, you know?

Okay, the fact that Trump is going to stiff Giuliani on his "legal bills" is funny on so many levels. If Trump was smart enough to file a legal malpractice claim against him, he'd have a hell of a case. Instead, he'll go the deadbeat route, as usual. "Trump has instructed aides not to pay Giuliani’s legal fees, two officials said, and has demanded that he personally approve any reimbursements for the expenses Giuliani incurred while traveling on the president’s behalf to challenge election results in key states. They said Trump has privately expressed concern with some of Giuliani’s moves and did not appreciate a demand from Giuliani for $20,000 a day in fees for his work attempting to overturn the election." www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-isolated-impeachment/2021/01/13/0595675a-55b6-11eb-a931-5b162d0d033d_story.html

Every time I see a story about a self pardon, they discuss the "debate" over whether Trump can pardon himself. What is the debate? If anyone thinks the Supreme Court is going to create a doctrine that Trump, Biden, and every future president is an absolute monarch at the federal level while in office, I have a bridge to sell them. He can't pardon himself.

Should I believe that Turtleman has changed his tune at this late juncture? Or does he finally realize the destruction that the sociopath has visited upon the already morally-depraved Republican Party? Is there no way out for Turtleman?! If he means it, call for the emergency session that Schumer has aksed for. Otherwise, it's simply more BS from a despicable Republican. Senator Mitch McConnell is said to believe that the impeachment effort will make it easier to purge President Trump from the party. And Representative Kevin McCarthy has asked other Republicans whether he should call on Mr. Trump to resign in the aftermath of the Capitol siege. At the same time, Representative Kevin McCarthy of California, the minority leader and one of Mr. Trump’s most steadfast allies in Congress, has asked other Republicans whether he should call on Mr. Trump to resign in the aftermath of the riot at the Capitol last week, according to three Republican officials briefed on the conversations. www.nytimes.com/live/2021/01/12/us/impeachment-trump-25th-amendmentI refuse to get my hopes up, but if McConnell actually wants to rid himself of Trump once and for all, he can do it by Thursday. This is not hard.
