Since he is 6'8-1/2, does he have the skill set and athleticism to develop into a perimeter playing small forward? Or is he still more of a back to the basket power forward with rang up to 15ft?

is he still coming go hoyas need a sevenfooter Right now it looks like he is still comming. I guess the question is, is he better than the 2-3 other big men Gtown wants to bring in: Sims Monroe Hamga Samuels Davis Of course there will be 3 spots to fill, so any of 2 or 3 of those PSAs would be great. I also like Toney Woods out of Georgia, and there is another 6'9 out Lousiana that named Henry that GU should get in on...

You can cross off Davis and Samardo, but may be able to add Sims and Hamga. Don't know if GU is involved with Greg Monroe, but he would fit well into the III system with his versatility. Also a nice kid with grades.

Guys we will get someone who is good for the system. We are quickly setting ourselves up for a Ryan Gomes moment by worrying about every player we don't get when we have 2 McD AAs coming and some highly touted local recruits as well.

It's great to be worrying about this. It's good to be the king (meanig that we're back with the big boys).

To answer your question.... C Braswell's skills have him at the 4 spot right now. Needs work to play the 3. Now with JT3's offense, if you move you can play anywhere.....

What people need to keep in mind about Braswell is that, before this high school season, he was ranked in the top 10-15 by all the major recruiting services. He may have dropped this year, but only because of inactivity. I don't think anyone doubts his talent - he just didn't play this year. I'm willing to bet that he tears it up in AAU this summer and regains the respect that he may have lost.

No need to be obsessed with 7-footers. Having a good player at that height is a plus, not a necessity.

Didn't want to start a seperate thread on this, but another kid to watch locally in terms of recruiting for the future is 6'8 Wally Judge--believe he plays with DC Assault--he's getting serious looks from Hoyas and is a BEAST.
I really think we could see GU turn up recruitment of Jamar Samuels too--he was/is favoring Tennessee at the moment but attended Prep and worked/improved his game and was quoted last Summer as admitting "Georgetown is my favorite team". He played locally at Archbishop Carroll in DC prior to leaving for Patterson Prep in NC.
Frank Ben Eze, Jason Clark's teammate at O'Connell is going to be monitored by Hoya Staff this Spring/Summer--and he's a 6'10 athletic/physical prospect with nice upside--a bit new to game.
Also keep an eye out on these kids--some are underclassmen
--Rodney McGruder--Archbishop Carroll--DC Assault --Maurice Creek--Oxon Hill--Triple Threat --Josh Hairston--DC Assault

While we're adding names to watch...................The GU staff will surely be heavily involved with Tyler Thornton, a current freshman at Gonzaga here in DC. He is arguably the top freshman in the area, and already has interest from Maryland, Virginia, Villanova, GU, and Carolina.

If Braswell stays healthy and eligible he'll be a really good player. Some people might be under the impression that we're losing some steam in recruiting with guys like Omar and Nikita potentially coming into the fold as scholarship players, guys like Gates and Joesph opting to go elsewhere, and losing a lot of our assistant coaches key to the recruiting process. It's important to remember though that our '07 class is the best we've had on paper in quite some time, even better than DaJuan+Vernon+Jeremiah; and also to remember that we're off to a great start with Braswell and Clark in '08. Braswell is a really good defensive player and rebounder, a good passer, and just has a lot of skills that are rare in a 6'8 athlete like him. Like I said if he stays healthy I think he'll be quite a player for us, and if we can add 1-2 more big bodies in '08 it'll be another great class.
As for the other recruits mentioned... Samuels and Ben-Eze are '08, while Wally Judge, Creek, and McGruder are all '09 (finishing up sophomore years now). I don't know of Hairston. I've heard a ton of good things about Creek though which is something for a sophomore. I don't know what the gurus might tell you but it definitely seems to me that there are going to be A LOT of good local players in 2009, and a lot of them will probably like the Hoyas. It'll be interesting to see how that class turns out.

I've seen Braswell play twice, and was impressed both times. He's not overly refined and he missed his share of layups (though getting a foul call on the interior in a high school/AAU tournament might be impossible).
That said, he's 6'8", not slight at all. This kid is athletic but already big -- he's not going to come in skinny like Vern. He has soft hands and an okay shot, decent handles for a big guy. But he also just has a real nose for the ball down low. You can see the potential in everything he does.

I know JT3 was in Pitt this weekend at the AAU tourny. I'm sure some new prospects caught his eye.

Tyler Thornton? Could Josh Crawford be far behind?
