Nittany-picked! Washington DC (AP) Hoyas set new record with 28 steals against Penn State in a 58-44 victory Monday night at the MCI Center. One game after a record setting 3-point shooting performance, John Thompson III’s Georgetown squad displayed a stifling defense that would make “Pops” proud. (maybe not, but I can't resist swinging at a hanging curveball!)

Nittany Speared
GU: 55, PSU: 48
A much slower pace to this game, as JTIII works on a gameplan that will allow us to not be embarrassed against Illinois.

Normal considerations aside (i.e. - the entire pre-season will provide good tests and learning for every player), I think this will be a good test for Roy in particular against PSU's frontcourt. He wasn't really needed in the second half against Davidson, but I think he will be needed in this game & I'd like to see him get significant minutes & give the Lions headaches on the defensive end.
And I'd like to see Owens explode. Maybe we can give him a rainbow mohawk, a nose ring and some tattoos a la Furious D, the racehorse with attitude and baditude who don't take no guff from nobody.
As for predictions, I predict that I will most likely eat something very unhealthy and regret it.
With the game tonight, The Pixies tomorrow night and another game on Thursday, I also predict that I will be tired and completely ineffective at work all week.

The Hoyas are currently favored by 10.5, which is a different line than I expected. I thought that they would be favored by like 2 or 3, and then given 2 points for the home court, expecting the spread to be like 4.5 or 5, but I guess Vegas likes our chances, as do I.
I would like to see a strong defensive performance, some nice motion on offense with slashing and cutting (hopefully by Owens), especially if we're not zoned the whole game.
I expect that Hibbert will have his best outing since the opening Temple game, and I think that Ashanti and Bowman will lead us in scoring, with Green focussing on his defensive assignment, and getting some offensive boards, put backs and 3 or 4 assists.
My prediction. Georgetown wins 63 - 50.
GO HOYAS!!! BEAT PSU!

i might have to get my roomate to put some money down for me on psu w/ that line... I think Hoyas win 67-62. Tight first half, but Green and Wallace have a strong second half and Bowman has one of the those great games that make you wonder why he doesn't play that well all the time.

Gtown 77 Penn State 58
Unfortunately, Penn State's bad losses override their win against Rutgers and their rating is pretty low. Still, this is a game we need to win. A decisive victory will give the Illini something to think about.

60-48, Hoyas win. I doubt Wallace will be as great a factor as he was versus Davidson, but I imagine Owens taking his role and hitting a few big buckets. Most interested in Big Roy and Green's play though. Or at least htey better win, I've got a PSU fan comign with me and the embarassment would be too great if they didn't.

Plaudits to Megafan, CambridgeHoya and Jimmy, for all coming close on both the score and the spread. Well done! I'll be watching your Illinois predictions closely. ;D
