I just booked two one ways on Orbitz. Why? Because originally I thought I would only need one leg (another trip was intersecting). Anyway, I got $264 going down from National on Friday and $245 going to National on Tuesday morning (early).
Somehow it actually worked out better than if I had tried to do a round trip.

Laugh if you want, or save money this way for sure: www.gastateparks.org/net/go/parks.aspx?s=14895.0.1.5&show=types&siteid=5&wrapid=1Hard Labor Creek State Park, an appropriate home for the weekend, is only 50 miles west of Atlanta and has campsites available, hot showers, the whole nine yards save the roof. I hope the whole student section goes there. That would be HOT! If only I had a ticket and a ride...

Clearly...obviously you get what you pay for. If you want to pony up $200-plus a night your options open up considerably.

We definitely considered the airport area, but decided we'd rather be close to town. We're more of a "quick cab around town" crew than a "take a rental car into town" crew.
Overall I was impressed at how much availability there was. Of course, I'm going to need the money I'm saving by not taking the Georgetown package for tickets.

Okay, I may just be looking for someone to intervene and tell me to just give up. Flights are ridiculously expensive, and the Amtrak is sold out. However, I found a Greyhound bus leaving DC at 9pm on Friday night and getting in about noon Saturday. Then the one way return flights are about $250, plus there would be one less night of a hotel to pay for. As much as I bleed hoya blue, I'd prefer not to actually get stabbed. How awful an idea is this? And is there any way the university would charter buses like they did for some of the road games this year? Are there any realistic options left?
