Delusional Dudley, after commenting that the ACC had superior athletes, told the post-game press conference that BC could not compete with us athletically. Logic major, perhaps.

Jeff Green said it best: "We got the last laugh. We won."
And with that, I think the book on Jared Dudley is closed.

Dudley and Sapp got into it with six and a half minutes left.
“He threw the ball at me and I was like, ‘Man, stop throwing the ball at me. Let’s play ball,’” Sapp told THE HOYA. “Then he got in my face and I got in his face and I just walked away.”

Since we're a friendly bunch, I think it's only fair that we help Jared make new friends - does anyone want to introduce him to Russell Carter?

Jared Dudley: you are a wothless punk. You are very lucky that Jessie Sapp didn't stomp your punk @$$. Your sorry college career is over. Good riddance.
See you in the NBDL- if you're lucky.

I think that, in addition to his usual bravado, Dudley was trying to talk himself up the draft board, especially in comparison to Jeff. I think that both his comment about lighting Patrick's fire and his comment about our poor team shooting outside of Wallace and Hibbert were really aimed at slighting Jeff without actually mentioning him by name. Fair rhetorical tools, actually, but I wouldn't want the personality that goes with them.

Has anyone asked Mr. Dudley why the ACC got 7 teams in the tourney, but only one made it to the Sweet Sixteen?
Or why when crunch time came, the BCEagles disappeared?
I liked PE Jr's line... they left the Big East.... maybe they were scared.

BC came to play and brought a game plan and some balls. Their moxy also came with a load of ham and eggs that included screaming, waving, dancing and other assorted trash that we disposed of. We didn't beat BC so much as we VANQUISHED them. Our team beat a worthy adversary that really thought they could and would win. Our shooting sucked and we survived a team that was ready to win so imo we should be thankful for the experience. Two crucial times our guys (Green and Hibbert) out fought multiple BC players to get the ball and layups. Every time down the stretch our guys were calm and aggressive at the same time. We are a dangerous bunch. And for the record our players don't give a crap about themselves which is something Dirt Bag Dudley should explore during his career in Greece.

Sean Paul needs to check himself. He is the second ugliest player in the country after Devendork. I see two bench NBA seasons and then some travel abroad for the Eagle. Way to deport dem Hoyas.

"Sean Paul"- too funny! But you also give Dudley-Do-Wrong too much credit- he won't make the NBA for even a fully season. I am looking forward to watching him get lit up in the rookie summer league and then dropped like a bad habit.

Fair rhetorical tools, actually, but I wouldn't want the personality that goes with them. The problem with Dudley is like any other "talker"--the more you talk, the more you look like an idiot--and in his case it's not a look. Dudley talks down about Big East--and then basically admits the "lowly Big East Team" beat his with 2 guys having good shooting nights--and he's the "Basketball Heaven" ACC's Player of Year and had a great game. So which is it? Big East sucks or is too good, deep, and athletic? Best thing is he's got a ton of time to think about it, and as for his future--he's got NBA DRUG SUSPENSION written all over him--actually the entire BC team does from what I've heard via a former signee and player that I've spoken with. I'd say Troy Bell and Dan Coleman have some credibility too--they said these current guys are just "completely useless as human beings and are not the type of people you would want to be around"--after seeing what has happened and seeing how they act/behave--both in person at Minneapolis practices last year and comments from Dudley this year--I've got to agree.

I'm sorry, I know I said i was done with BC. We have more important things to think about.
But then I ran across this quote in the ESPN recap from Al Skinner and my jaw dropped.
RE; the incident between Sapp & Dudley.
"I don't want him to walk away. That's not how you're going to handle yourself," Skinner said. "It's up to the officials to control it."
Really? You don't want to teach your players to control themselves? Just let the officials control them? Good Lord, you just dropped down to near Calipari levels on the respect meter.
No wonder Dudley has the attitude he does.

Skinner seems like a nice guy, but is WAY overmatched when it comes to actually coaching and recruiting.
If it wasn't for him REALLY lucking out with Dudley and Craig Smith out of California that program would be a joke right now. Those two were lightly recruited and give Skinner credit for finding them and helping them, but he got lucky. He can't compete for the top players and has to get lucky. That team is maxed out at making the dance and maybe winning a game. That's about it.
They will be TERRIBLE next year. In fact, Skinner kind of reminds me of Esherick. Nice guys and doing the best they can, but the best is getting lucky with recruits and maybe making the dance.
If that's what you want in a program so be it. No skin off my back. However, Skinner has zero chance recruiting against the top tier. Especially with his atttitude about not being able to get McDonald's AA players and making the refs do his job of controlling his own players.

To some degree you have to give him credit for "developing" the players, but the question is did he just get lucky with these guys.
He runs an offense (the Flex) that my high school team abandoned because it was too easy to defend and mechanical...
BC is in a ton of trouble and will be at the bottom of the barrel in terms of the ACC next year.
Heck, even the football coach bailed to NC St...I guess for more money and easier recruiting...or because he was smart and got out before the ship sunk.

The problem they are having is that when kids go on visits they HATE--and I don't mean dislike, I mean HATE the kids they will play with--Coleman visited when players weren't around and was shown around by a friend of his who attended BC and he went to HS with--and when he met the team-which was on his arrival in Summer--he left 2 weeks later.
It's obviously not just him--as the only players that go there are guys some programs refuse to recruit after knowing things about what type of people they are--or kids who aren't coveted and just want to play in a Major Conference.
Dudley's Dad got JUMPED as in Gordon Jump and may he and his team suffer at the fury of the GOOCH!

Skinner's not as bad as people make him out to be- the flex offense is fine with the right players, see UMD 2002- but he's still a punk who cannot control his sorry players. And he admits it!!! He belongs in the ACC- and most ACC fans hate BC, so have fun with that one.

I'm still waiting for a correction from Grant Wahl, who I generally respect. He wrote one of the most foolish, untimely things I've ever seen on Thursday evening: The ACC is the nation's best conference. We've known this for weeks, of course, but we wanted to acknowledge that in print after our SI story in January argued that the Pac-10 was the top league in the land. That was true at the time, but since then Arizona and Washington have fallen off the map, while other Pac-10 teams just haven't kept up with the volume of quality across the board in the ACC. Thursday's games have only ratified the ACC's superiority: both B.C. and Maryland were solid in their victories, while Stanford was an absolute disaster against Louisville. Can we finally stop citing Stanford's win at Virginia as some sort of giant-killing feat? Why would you draw this conclusion on Thursday evening of all times? Because Maryland beat DAVIDSON!?!? It just doesn't make any sense. And now it sounds idiotic.
