After being disrobed and dismissed by Big Roy, Aaron Gray ducked the media after last night's game.
Suffering from the flu, no doubt.

If he were a pro and getting paid millions for that performance, I'd have a problem. As a college athlete, I don't mind that he ducked the press. He'll have enough questions to answer after he gets drafted too high.

He had plenty to say in the lead in about how beating the Hoyas in the final for revenge was just how he wanted it (said with his annoying little smirk).
He is nothing more than Stuart Gray reincarnated.

Give him a break and get rid of your "annoying little smirk". He had a very bad game but a good season. Let's show some class when we win.

I agree, Ed. I like Gray, actually, though I'm glad he had a terrible game! What a nightmare if you're him.

Anybody else notice he looks a lot like Jim Halpert from the office?

I don't have any issue with Gray--he had a tough game and that can happen--but one thing I find interesting about this entire scenario--he was also the guy who was calling out Big Roy over the Summer when he'd tested the waters and decided to return--it's almost like he called him out thinking Roy wouldn't respond and when stage was biggest/brightest--Roy had the answer for him--but I take no issue with Aaron's response after the game with media--he and Pitt players were very respectful and took time to congratulate the team after game and wish them the best in NCAA's. Hope Gray and company have a nice run in NCAA's and will pull for almost every Big East team in NCAA's--minus a certain team who is led by Cheddar Bob and Me-La-La.

I can't say whether or not Gray had the flu, but I can say he must have been pretty hungry as he showed up at Little Vincent's Pizza around 4am and ordered an entire pie. Gray was behind a very inebriated fellow class of 98 alum at the counter and when my friend noticed he asked the pizza guy in a loud voice, "Excuse me sir, do you happen to know who the best center in the Big East is? It's Roy Hibbert, that's who!" To his credit, Gray laughed and said, "He certainly was tonight." He also congratulated GU on the win, wished us luck in the tourney and chatted with my friend for a minute or so. A hilarious way to end a great night...

Iverson Ct.: If Gray did in fact say that, I have a ton of respect for him. Think of a lot of other top-flight college athletes in that situation. Most or many of them would have had some real beef with your buddy. Gray responded (gasp!) with humility and respect -- kind of the same way we would expect our guys to in the same situation.

Good story re: Gray and the Pizza.
What I don't understand is why he never stepped out and took those 8-10 ft. jump shots he's usually so good at. It was like he decided he needed to go inside, mano-a-mano on Roy to "prove something". Dixon should have changed that. A year ago, Gray ate up Roy doing exactly that.
Gray and Roy seem to enjoy playing against one another - at least until last night. A good rivalry, good guys.
But last night Gray got annihilated. Yes, it would have been admirable if he showed up and talked to the press. But he's a kid. It was too much -- to lose the BE Final again. To get beaten up by Roy. To let his team down. To get smoked - 0-9 in the first half while Roy went 7-8. Then to face the media??? Tough task.
Jamie, on the other hand, took the high road and just gave all the credit to GU. JT3 took the even higher road, said Gray is a great player, but last night just wasn't his night. Stars were aligned for Gray or for Pitt.
JT3 is THE MAN!!!

I don't like liking the Hoyas' opponents, but thanks to that anecdote, I like Gray. Just in time to likely never play him again. Luckily, Devendorf will never exhibit such patience and class.

Like someone else said, Gray's not a pro, he had a bad game and he seemed to be pretty classy about it. Let's stay classy, too.

Anybody else notice he looks a lot like Jim Halpert from the office? I'm gonna have to disagree. I call him Ivan Drago (Rocky IV). He's got that pale skin, angry look, mean eyes... and he can't get it done when it counts.

I agree, Ed. I like Gray, actually, though I'm glad he had a terrible game! What a nightmare if you're him. I felt bad for Gray. Still...better that he had such a bad game rather than Hibbert.

No. he didn't. Sorry to rehash a conversation from this board that took place about five months ago, but Gray scored either four or six points on Hibbert in that game(the rest of his points came with Hibbert on the bench or with another player guarding Gray because of a defensive switch). Gray hit two jumpers on Roy and that was pretty much the only way he could do damage against him because (just like last night) he wasn't having much success inside against Roy. But for some reason Hoya fans tend to exaggerate how much an opposing player outplayed Roy or exaggerate how the pace of a game was too quick for Roy, etc, etc. Gray outplayed Roy without a doubt. But Gray did not "destroy" Roy as suggested a few months ago nor did Gray eat Roy up with jumpshots.
I know, I know. I sound like a broken record. But so does everyone else when it comes to this topic.

That's a good story about Gray, but sort of surprising that he was partying in NYC with the tourney only a few days away. Hopefully the gtown players didn't partake in any of the nightlife.

Gray's hair and face shape pretty much exclude any Drago comparisons. Kendall on the other hand...
