Best player on the best team.
It should be Green.

My head tells me that Jeff and Roy on the same team keeps Green from winning - but I can't figure out who deserves it more on any of the contending teams. It may actually happen - 2 more strong games will mean a lot.

The only way having Roy hurts Jeff is if people somehow reason that what Green has done isn't that impressive because he had Hibbert there to help.
Does anyone know how the voting is done? Is it like Major League Baseball does the MVP voting (i.e. you can list one guy first and that's worth a certain number of points, then 2nd, 3rd, all the way down...)?
Green has too much buzz right now. I don't think it's sealed, but a couple solid games this week would be helpful. Boeheim and Calhoun carry a bit of a clout I bet and quotes from them after the game - ideally something like, "Jeff Green is the best player we've faced all year and we could not stop him" - would be nice.

How about JT III COACH OF THE YEAR? The winning streak; so far EXCEEDING even his fellow coaches expectations and predictions before the year began; and well, he's the most well-mannered; never anything bad to say; coolest cat who roams the sidelines among those other BEAST coaches. I think there's NO QUESTION he's COY, just as JEFF IS POY.

First off, Sean McDonough has been on some crusade to get Demetrius Nichols the Big East POY and I have no idea where this came from? It's true Nichols is vastly improved, been a terrific player, and is worthy of All Conference--but he keeps degrading Jeff Green's chances by saying "it's the system that limits his STATS"--being the BEST PLAYER is about more then statistics--it's about being a great player and leading your team to WINS--as in the team who WINS CONFERENCE GAMES should be CONFERENCE POY---if that wasn't case--then why did Mike Sweetney not garner any POY mention on those horribly led Esh teams? Not that Jeff or III care--but I do--when it's become a personal crusade from a Syracuse alum in the media to try and get "his guy" an award that he's not earned. Last but not least--all that needs to be said: J-E-F-F, JEFF, JEFF, JEFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think there's NO QUESTION he's COY, just as JEFF IS POY. Both have clinched. Realistically it would be Brey or Pitino and I just don't see either getting enough votes. Beilein will likely have a team picked 12th finish like 8th or 9th so, meh.

I watched the Cuse game & I didn't think he were Editedting on Jeff. I thought I heard him say he deserved to win.. he mentioned Nichols, but I don't think he were over-hyping him as the BE POY either.. he actually said he should win or First off, Sean McDonough has been on some crusade to get Demetrius Nichols the Big East POY and I have no idea where this came from? First off, Sean McDonough has been on some crusade to get Demetrius Nichols the Big East POY and I have no idea where this came from? RDF, the answer is fairly transparent: Sean McDonough Syracuse Class of 1984Remember, McDonough the elder had a lifelong worse-than-Feinstein hatred for Coach Thompson Jr, so there are also genetics at work here.

Honestly, if Jeff doesn't earn POY it's highway robbery. I know it's probably not something he cares about, and I know we'd all rather win the NCAA tourney than have awards, but it would be nice recognition for Jeff. He deserves it.

i warned u all about Sean McDonough last week. he is a cuse grad and homer to the fullest. the thing i do not understand is why espn consistantly assigns him to their games with his transparent bias.
McDonough is to cuse what dick v is to duke

let's focus on winning the next two games and I have a feeling that the POY and COY will take care of themselves.

Jeff Green is the kind of person about whom collegiate sports is - and should be - all about. I don't think it's too much to say that. If he doesn't deserve to win Big East POY, I don't think I care about that title anymore. If he doesn't win it because our "system doesn't allow him to build his stats," and our team still gets the results it gets, the title is meaningless.
Jeff Green is the Big East Player of the Year. The coaches in our league are smart guys (e.g., what Coach Dixon said about Jeff after the game). Two more reg season games, three in the BET. The guy who's been doing it all for us for the third year straight should get his due.
