If Rivers is out, it's a big loss

To be honest after watching Kenner I wasn't expecting much of Rivers this year - but since the first game he has played well and been constantly improving. He is also one of only three players on our team that can handle the ball.

Even with Crawford coming back, losing Rivers would be a huge blow.

Completely agree -- Rivers is a very important part of the team at this point. I hope it's just a sprain.

Rivers likely has a bad ankle sprain-and just hope he's okay down the road--but this is also been his history--he's been injury prone, so it's going to force someone else to step up--if allowed to do so.

Last night was the first time I've seen him open up and shoot the ball without reluctance. And it was pretty. IMO he's been our best perimeter defender this season. Hope he gets better fast.

Rivers looked great last night. He is a very solid player. I sure hope he is okay.

Here is a first hand observation, not a medical opinion. We were outside by the bus last night after the game when he came back to the stadium on a cart with Head Trainer Lorry Michel. It looked like they had been over at Wallace Wade Stadium getting an xray. He went back into the locker room on crutches. His foot was in his shoe, no ice, no temporary cast. He appeared bummed but not in agony. Given the lack of urgency around him, it appears to be a sprain. Had it been a break, achilles tear etc, he likely would have been headed to the hospital and not back into the locker room. He really hustled last night and I suspect we'll miss his "D" for awhile. By now there may be a more definitive report, but this is what we saw.

Thanks for the report. As someone else at the game, I will say that as much as I hate them with all of my heart, the dook fans did clap nicely for Jessie when he was hurt.

Watching the replay on DVR, it appeared he rolled his ankle, inverting his foot, while stepping on a teammate's foot. Basic scenario for a bad ankle sprain, but sometimes also a fracture. No word that I can find from the team as yet.

Rivers did look really good last night. It was my first opportunity to see him and I was pleasantly surprised. I liked seeing him go up quickly with a mid-range jumper off the dribble and swish it -- no time to think, just shoot.

I hope he is back by the end of the month. He can be a key contributor during the BE Season... and we need some depth at guard.

Here's where Jeremiah being out really hurts us: we have 2 guards - that's it - 2. Sapp and Wallace have to play 40 minutes each now - not that that's a problem they both have shown flashes of stardom - but if either of them get 5 fouls we are screwed.

I think Rivers is really good. I do not think he's anything like Wallace (which I believe has been a thinly-veiled derisive comment since Jeremiah lost 2 dexterity and 3 strength on the Rivals recruiting site :.

Rivers is bigger, faster, and more skilled with the ball than Wallace was at this point in his career. Obviously Wallace has a much better shot. I think he's more than a "minute filler" at guard right now. We need him to give us different looks moving forward because his skill set is different.

Best ye not forget the heart & soul---Tyler. Furthermore, DaJuan & Marc have proven more than capable of quality minutes at the guard position.
