You didn't miss much. He said it was great to leave home (princeton) and come home (georgetown) at the same time. He thanked DeGoia. He mentioned the old chant "we are georgetown" and how he wanted that to mean something again. He talked about the history of the program and how honored he was.
The questions were hard to make out. I think the first was about assistants, and he said that he'd deal with that later. Another was about following in his father's footsteps and he said that he's always been John Thompson's son, so he's used to these questions and expectations.
Overall, he struck all the right chords in my book. I'm very amped about this hire, much to the detriment of my productivity at work. If I heard correctly, JTIII will be on JTII's radio show this afternoon. That should be a must listen.

to put it politely, has been atrocious. 980-AM cut away after 5 minutes or so and Channel 9 carried some NCAA footage of JTIII, no live feed whatsoever... Now if this were Maryland announcing its coach....

Press Conference:
Jack introduces JT3 -- commitment to competing in Big East at highest level, with integrity and fairly, and while giving student athletes best education.
JT3 -- thanks DeGioia and GU for privelege of coaching here. Said it was a difficult decision leaving an institution he truly loves and an integral part of who he is, and thanks Princeton for giving him the job. Feels fortunate as one of the few people in the world who can leave home to come home, feels GU job is special with lots of demands on coaching staff and team alike. Grew up on this campus, grew up in McD gym -- as much a part of who he is as Princeton. Chant he loved best was "We are Georgetown" from the cheerleaders -- the WHOLE university and program. Good to be back home at GU. He said "We are Georgetown" a bunch of times -- it was kinda cool.
question from press: any thoughts on assistants
answer: not yet, make that determination as we go forward
question: father-son thing: He gets question all the time, got it since junior high ball -- I've been JT's son for 38 years, and i'm comfortable with being his son. Here at GU, it will be something other people think about more than he will. At Princeton he was John Thompson's son, so if other people can deal with it, he's ok with it.
question: biggest factor in coming to GU
answer: hard to answer -- 2 like basketball programs in terms of pride, tradition, etc. Opportunity to coach here is a new challenge and the challenge was the biggest reason for coming.
question: schedule
answer: schedule -- just talked about "Pops and St Leo's" -- have to understand there are different experiences you want for your team. Number one is preparing the team for league play. Different ways of accomplishing that and in different years there might be different ways of doing that.
question: new big east
answer: That's one of the challenges he was talking about -- coaching at the highest level. Makes life tough, but we're going to work behinds off to meet that challenge.
