If Florida contesting every shot is such a big deal, shouldn't be an equally big deal this run-and-gun squad had to play a half-court game for 40 minutes and almost lost to a seven seed?
Actually, the fact that Florida could adapt to a slow down game and still be so effective is a tribute to both our players and coaches. You have to know that the players were really anxious to get up and down the court and start playing ball like they want to, but they had the patience to adjust and do what they needed to for the victory. Kudos to them for being able to win that way as well.

I hate UCLA and all johnny-come-lately Southern California Bruin fans...may death rain down on them from above and their team be emasculated on the court.

After dealing with Steve Lavin for more years than I want to think about, Ben Howland is a godsend. What the Bruins have accomplished this year, given enough injuries to cover about three seasons (and I understand that Lorenzo Mata broke his nose again in practice last night), is nothing short of remarkable. Were all you people criticizing Pops' teams that made defense their bread and butter but were, um, er, offensively challenged?

I hate Florida, and I hate the whole "let's root for this team because it helps our RPI" attitude ten times more. But if Florida obliterates GMU and UCLA/LSU, where does that put us? We would be the only team to play the champs tough in the tourney - just a pity we were in the same region. I think that would be nice.
I'm not "rooting" for them - I'm just saying...

P.S. We are also hands down the best baseball conference. Oh and by the way ... Gymnastics, Tennis, Softball, are pretty dang strong too. Say what you will about the $EC, but their backers probably use the word "dang" better than any other conference in the country.
