Damn...the game is not even over and the FL boards are whining about the refs.
Maybe they didn't hear that we are not playing the womens tournament?!!!

If you blame the refs for games you are a bunch of goons. Fact is that no referee has won/lost a game and you have to adjust to style of officiating. If Hoyas win/lose, it will be earned--not given/taken by referees. Sounds like they have a lot of their whiny football fans talking hoops.

And not a word about how we are dictating tempo. Don't you remember what they told us? Tempo is irrelevant.

Referees have no outcome-it's why I HATE when Football schools are good in basketball--the fanbase could give a rip and they don't know a damn thing about sport. So they whine about calls.
Fact is we lost to a better team, took them down to wire which gave ourselves a chance, and that's all you can ask. No calls make difference in this game--you have 40 minutes to decide outcome--not whatever amount of time it takes for a call to be made. It always seems like the team you support as a fan is getting raw deal but that is your own emotions factoring in.
Can't wait for next year and hope the guys get a nice welcome home from fans--that is if our Athletic Department can pull their heads out of their rear and make sure fans are allowed to see the guys at the correct time.

The idea that referees never affect the outcome of a game is just ridiculous. Come on, RDF. It's fun to be the tough guy who never complains about the officiating, but sometimes teams win or lose based on the calls. Duh.

It's not being a "tough guy" to say that officiating doesn't decide the outcome. If you are better then your opponent, you overcome it. You shoot 39% as a team, the opposing Center has 6 blocked shots--and you lose by 4 pts--do you think at least 3 of those blocks is a made shot if you get up and over him? I say yes--you win by 2 pts then.
It's about taking the emotion of being a fan out of looking at official. We weren't a team that sustained our level of play all year and yet we came within 4 pts of the Elite 8 in NCAA Tournament. Now you can blame factors that don't matter or you can look forward to a deeper, more talented team, that should be able to sustain their level of play/scoring more--which makes it a more dangerous team to face.
Nothing is given to you--it's earned and just think it's ridiculous to blame officiating for winning/losing. Don't like how refs are calling game, hit more shots and certainly more then 39%.

Refs - as bad as they may have been in certain situations - hardly cost/won anyone the game. Hoyas shoot a decent % and we're talking about what time the game is on Sunday. This hurts more than the loss to UMCP in '01 for some reason...

We had a shot to win the game, and I'm pleased we took it. I'd rather go down fighting than anything else. In some ways, it is tougher on the fans, but it does not upset me because we did what I wanted us to do in that spot, which was to go for the win.
I think there is something to the idea that you can get lucky breaks, but it comes from aggressive play. You don't get breaks if you don't earn them, in other words. The UF player earned a break when he hit that shot and got the foul instead of a jump ball call, with UF retaining possession (I think).
