Going back in Hoya history, one notices a strong tendency for the team to perform well every 5 years in the Thompson era. We fielded good teams in '76 (21-7), '81 (20-12), '86 (24-8), '91 (19-13), '96 (29-8), and '01 (25-8). If we focus on the 10 year cycle the numbers are even better, granted we have limited data points. In '06 we are (23-9), so far.

Seeing as for most of those years we had good records, I think the safer conclusion is that it's been 5 years since we had a good season.

Interesting statistics, but ultimately has no bearing on the outcome of tomorrow's game. Only the Kentucky/Yankees correlation works.

And our best years were 82, 84 and 85 - the ewing factor, which kicks back in next year.

just how good is this guy supposed to be? Is he even gonna start next year? I'd imagine he froms the frontline with Green and Hibbert.
But what's his game all about? Is he aggressive inside and/or does he have an outside touch? Is he a good rebounder? Can he pass?
Basically is there anything noteworthy about him other than his lineage?
Speaking of that isn't Dikembe's boy on sked to join the program in two years time? I'm sure I read that in the Post the days after the Duke win when they scribes were polling all the old guard about the Hoyas remergence.

PJ is an incredible athlete. Saw him in a couple of Kenner League games, and I think he'll bring lots of energy and solid rebounding/defense. It'll be interesting to see how he fits in on offense, though, because I didn't get the sense that he's as good a 3-pt shooter as Brandon (who, I assume, he'll be replacing in the lineup), though I think he could be just as good, if not better, at the other parts of the offensive game (e.g., mid-range, driving, moving w/out the ball, passing, etc.).
Can't say I saw him while he was at IU -- his stats weren't particularly noteworthy, but I've heard folks say that Davis just didn't use his abilities very well. We shall see...
