RB- The mini-conference compares records between the teams tied. Georgetown lost to Marquette and beat Pitt for a record of 1-1. Marquette beat us and split with Pitt (2-1) while the Panthers lost to us (1-2). The top team in the mini-conference gets the seed in question (in this case the fourth), and it goes by winning percentage. Marquette 2-1 .667 Georgetown 1-1 .500 Pittsburgh 1-2 .333 Marquette gets the fourth seed. The next spot is then determined by the next highest winning percentage in the mini-conference, not head-to-head or record vs. the top teams in the conference. We get the fifth seed. It also doesn't matter that we didn't play the same number of games - winning percentage is what counts. By virtue of Pitt's loss tonight, there is no way we fall below #5, and, contrary to Hoya Blue's email, there is no way we will play Wednesday at 9. Win and it's Thursday at 2:30, lose and it's probably Wednesday at 2:30. The record against the top teams only comes into play if two teams are tied within the mini-conference AND split the head-to-head or didn't play each other. Neither of those scenarios comes into play between us and Pitt. Cool. The dream comes to an end .

RB- As an aside, the Hatters of Stetson went down in the A-Sun quarterfinals tonight. Oh well. But Matt Doherty lives to fight another day. ;D ;D ;D(EDIT: No, on second thought, he most clearly does not. I'm 24 hours behind the times here, which is kind of embarrassing given the number of Florida schools in this Haircare and Tire Center of a conference they got going in the A-Sun.)

I am rooting for both Cincy and SU. I want as many BE teams in the tourney as possible.

Go 'Quette - we definitely want to play them on Thursday - it took our worst game of the last 6 weeks, at their place, for them to hold us off. Feeling good about playing UConn on Friday night! (Yeah, I know I'm tempting the bball Gods by presuming wins tonight and Thursday, but they owe us alot, so I'll risk it.
