on his radio show today. Said he thinks we're catching Duke at the perfect time for a letdown, and that we're good enough to win. Apparently, he didn't see the USF game, but I like the optimism!
Seriously, this game is a huge opportunity for the program. A national TV game against the undefeated #1 ranked team in the country. Remember back in '89 when the Dookies snatched the title as the dominant East Coast basketball program from us? Let's take it back.
(of course, this is also an opportunity - if the team plays the way it did on Tuesday - for an embarrasing loss in front of the whole nation and a significant dent in the buzz that has been building around the program since JT3's arrival. Guess it depends if you're a glass half full or glass half empty kind of guy)

I heard this segment too- Kornheiser has been pushing us all year, he picked us against Illinois too. He sees something he likes in this club and wants us to succeed- I hope the players see it in themselves too!

I made the comparison on Hoyareport, but I'll say it again. Last year, Villanova struggled badly early on, losing some bad games. Then they blew Kansas off the court at home on national TV and catapulted themselves into a great season and a near victory over UNC in the tourney. It could be the same for us. It really is a tremendous opportunity.
Any one care to guess at the spread? I'm thinking Duke by 10 or so. Which is about what UConn was favored by.

See, Kornheiser belives in us.
Let's hope he's right. I think there might be something to this perfect timing theory. They've won a bunch in a row, and it seems like a lot of the media are looking past this game and trying to figure out which ACC opponent, if any, could topple Duke. Just have to hope that the Duke players are looking past saturday's game too.

I definitely think we have a chance. The only problem is, Duke rarely, if ever, lets down their guard. They seem to always play with great intensity. The only time teams come close or beat them is when they match their intensity and execute a nearly flawless game plan. We have the ability to do that, the question is, will we?

I just want to point out that the last time Duke started out 17-0, in 1992, they came out with a big, fat "L" in their 18th game...
Maybe we are catching them at the right time...

The men in the white coats arrived for Kornheiser right after the show. Did anyone notice if his eyes were glazed and if he was drooling when he made that statement?

I doubt he makes a prediction on PTI until tomorrow if at all, but I didn't watch the show to know.

I love Mr. Tony, but let's not forget that less than a week ago, he predicted the Colts would "demolish" the Steelers ... haven't seen the line yet on this game, but Duke just beat NC State by 13 in a game where they didn't really show up for the first 35 minutes, I would think 13 is a good starting point to put the spread.
Still, can we win ... why not?

Ok, I just caught the replay of PTI on ESPN News... Not much, buuut...
They played over under, and the over/under was Duke: 2 losses.
Both Tony and Wilbon took over. Wilbon started reading off some of there forthcoming games, and started with "AT Georgetown-which COULD be ranked" and Tony chimed in with a big "YES", which to me backed up his prediction from the radio. But Wilbon kept reading other games that he thought could be potential losses, away ACC games basically. So, it was, I guess, a little respect for the Hoyas.

He sees something he likes in this club and wants us to succeed I'm sure he hasn't actually watched a Hoyas game this year.

So I can skip to it in the podcast -- what time in the show did TK talk about Georgetown?

kchoya: He says it about 8 minutes into the Old Guy Radio segment. Enjoy, and thanks to Mr. Tony for the support.
