You can get this article to JT3/basketball office via fax. The fax number is 202-784-2503. If someone does fax it, please post that you have so that we do not flood them and tie up their machine. (This fax number is public information and is posted on the GUHoyas staff roster).
Anyway, a couple of talking points for JT3...
1) Boeheim wins a championship one day, and he thinks he is God's gift to basketball the next. Boeheim is one among a select group of coaches in college basketball who has been put on probation by the NCAA. At Georgetown, we hold our program to a higher standard on and off the court.
2) Boeheim may not know where Georgetown is now, but give us a few years and he won't forget.
3) It has come to my attention that some people have forgotten about Georgetown. Well, we're going to work our behinds off the remind them. At Georgetown, we have a program and not a team. We are Georgetown, and that encompasses, the players, the students, the alumni, the Administration, Washington D.C...
Anyway, any other recommendations???

Unlike JB's hair, Georgetown is coming back.

Boy, a guy wins one measley national title (that's one for every two major NCAA ethics violations) and he thinks it entitles him to be snotty.

This just reminds me of how much I despise Syracuse. It might even be worse than Dook. My wife just shakes her head every time I mutter under my breath, "Syracuse, those orange <bleep*>ers." It's like I can't say "Syracuse" without the "orange bleepers". *self-edited to protect the innocent

I really don't think it was that serious. Boheim is a good coach, a great coach. He said more in jest, being sarcastic. I don't like Syracuse, but I hate that terd Jim Calhoun and UCONN even more. The nerve of that guy to say Emeka "I shoot layups over 6 foot 7 centers all day" Okafor was better than either Mourning or Mutumbo. Even in our down years we have beaten Syracuse. Beating them is not as gratifying as whipping that terd Calhoun and his henchmen.

Sure, it was a wise-guy comment, but also speaks to the fact that Georgetown has received almost no national or regional press in the last five months.
Subject to change, of course....

Syracuse hasn't exactly received any national coverage either. Even if it did, it was probably about Billy Edelin and whether he dried out over the summer or whatever. Of course they receive more regional coverage. SU basketball is the only thing to cover in that part of the state.

Perfect bulletin board material. If this doesn't get the team fired up, what will?

it was pretty bold for someone who beat us by a lucky 3 at the end last year.

This is much ado about nothing. No one appreciates the Gtown-Syracuse rivalry more than Boeheim. This was a tongue-in-cheek comment made to a Syracuse audience. What would you expect him to say? The fact that Gtown is the school he chose to poke fun at speaks volumes. Give the guy a break.
As much of a whiny priss that he can be at times, you have to give him kudos for his ability to take a wide variety of players over the years and mold them into successful teams. He is able to adapt to his talent rather than force-fit his players into a rigid system. He has also become adept at media relations, something that our coaches could learn volumes from. Like him or not, he has earned my respect for his longevity and sustained success. Those in glass houses should not throw stones.

I always respect Boheim. Great Coach, great system. Great battles over the years with our Hoyas. His comment read to me like a Washington Redskin making fun of a Dallas Cowboy. Its expected, it wasn't mean-spirited. Calhoun or UCONN I have no respect for.

Jeez, Hoya fans coming to the defense of Jim BOEHEIM? How can we expect the team to play tough, Hoya style basketball when the fans themselves are turning into WNBA-type bemused game observers instead of rabid, wild-eyed fanatics?
There's never ever any defense for Mr. Magoo in Hoyaland. He's a crook, his teams stink, and his university is a frigid wasteland. Period. Can i get some t-shirts to THAT effect?
By the way, I bet he made the comment referenced with a sneer. Jerk.

There is no reason to commend any of that's schools athletes or coaches. Boeheim does not deserve our respect, incidentally, because he, like some other prizes in college basketball, had his program put on probation. Not even someone like Bob Huggins can claim that.

it was pretty bold for someone who beat us by a lucky 3 at the end last year. Agreed, totally forgot about that. Very good point. That school from Washington, DC that apparently doesn't exist anymore almost beat your sorry ass last year were it not for a lucky off-balance 3-ball by a triple-teamed Keebler at the buzzer.

I'm happy that the old bum said this. It definitely shows that the rivalry is alive and well even though we've had a few down years.
It's good for everyone to get a little heated about this, thats what rivalries are all about. Now let's shock them in the dome this season!

1. I have always hated Syracuse basketball.
2. I will always hate Syracuse basketball.
3. Jim Boeheim is the leader of Syracuse basketball.
4. Ipso Fatso, I have always and will always hate Jim Boeheim.
Having said that, this man earned a lasting measure of respect from this meaningless and inconsequential fan in the recent shake-up, for being a loud voice who stood up and said that Syracuse belonged in the Big East and should not move to the ACC for any amount of money.
I do not forget the whining, I do not forget the mewling, I do not forget the casual relationship with the recruiting rules, but I give him credit for taking that stand. Sure, maybe he was one of very few who could do it, and sure, maybe Cuse wasn't who the ACC really wanted, so maybe it was no skin off of his (rather prodigious) nose to say it, but I appreciated him for those statements anyway.
Now, the season's coming up, so I wish him nothing bud bad things for the next 8 months. But I also won't forget that he stood up for the Big East.

Thank god Syracuse didn't join the ACC - Playboy just did there Girls of the ACC issue and I would have been horrified if there were Syracuse beasts in there. Miami, surprisingly, didn't bring as much to the table as I would have thought.

(This fax number is public information and is posted on the GUHoyas staff roster). FYI and FWIW - I had a moment at work so I went ahead and faxed in the article to the GU basketball office, requesting that it be forwarded to JT III's attention. The same article is also available on SI.com's website (link below), so I printed it out from that site to provide a little more credibility to the source/outlet. sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/basketball/ncaa/09/17/boeheim.ap/index.html
