It's not a new low, but it's certainly a remarkable one even for HoyaTalk.

Poor Elvado. A victim by proxy. I may have gone to a third rate law school but I was taught that when I made an assertion, I supported it with some facts. You never do. Congrats! Elvadoism at its finest. And the answer is because one was a devoted liberal and one was first. More likely because RBG was still on the bench and very involved in the issues of our time and was a very notable public figure til the end while O’Connor had been retired for almost 20 years and not in the public eye at all.

Would that also explain the fawning hero worship ?

I will readily admit that I was never a fan of Reagan. I had to put up with him as governor of California for 8 years before he was president. That said, his appointment of SDO to the Supreme Court was one of his best moves, in stark contrast to Bush I's appointment of Corrupt Clarence.
With respect to RBG, my closest friend is an educator who takes middle school kids on a trip to DC every year. One of their stops is Arlington National Cemetery. He told me that the gravesite that the kids most want to visit is RBG's. Take that for what it's worth.

Also, RBG had the benefit of a completely different social media environment. SDO retired before it was a thing thus aside from an alleged MSM "fawning" there's that. Ironically, given SDO's personality if it has been accurately portrayed, likely she would be the last person to begrudge RBG's social presence in the various media outlets. That is to her credit and demonstrates a level of grace and civility to be admired and emulated. Anyway, her passing simply constituted an opportunity to attack the so-called MSM and by extension, Ginsberg. Sad that some respond that way. As an aside, I was thrilled to visit the SDO Federal Courthouse in Phoenix for the swearing in of a good friend from DOJ, first as a Magistrate Judge 9 years ago and then as a 9th Circuit judge appointed by Trump - and she's still a good friend because while very conservative, she is honest, smart and the hardest working attorney I knew at DOJ.
