No auto entry into the NCAA, so we sit and wait for the other regions to finish and play the kolas game. Pre-race calculations had the Hoyas one of the last two or three teams in. But the results of the regions could change that. So fingers crossed.

It looks as if the Hoyas are the last at-large team.

It looks as if the Hoyas are the last at-large team. xcquals.com/2023/m/quals/8fc3b4567ee885e1cb4960bb81efb398/projections.html if his formula is correct, yeah 31st team in. CBU finished behind Gonzaga and Portland, so takes an at-large rather than an Auto (also Portland wasn't projected as an at-large pre-meet). NC State ran well in the SE and took another unexpected at-large. Hope this projection holds. The men competed really well today, it would be great for them to get into the meet, especially with it so close to home.

I was rooting for Portland (my son's alma mater), but not at the expense of replacing the Hoyas. Matt Strangio led Portland with a 2nd place finish behind Ky Robinson, who won the NCAA XC champs last year. Matt is the son of our head track and field coach at the middle school, where I coach.

Reaally hope the men are in, they have been progressing steadily throughout the season. Also very interested to see that three freshmen and a sophomore cracked the top 31, the future may be in good hands! As for the women, 4 in the top 10 without the Hoyas' top runner. There are a lot of great teams around the country, but the Hoya women have shown that they belong. Can't wait for the NCAAs next Saturday!

After regionals the men move up to just out of the top 30 with 12 votes (essentially #31)/
The women fell two places to #6. I don't know why; they just won the Mid-Atlantic regional by a good margin. Stanford and Ok State moved ahead of them. Stanford just one point ahead of the Hoyas.
