Okay, as there is nothing else to talk about, and I cannot work on my moot court brief from work, and it's not time to go back to my other job yet, and I have had about enough of estate paperwork for today...
How about getting together some Hoya support clubs to watch games in various areas outside of DC? All we need is about 10 people locally and we could have a good time. Yeah, the Hoop Club does regional events, but not where I live, and in any event not that often.
I live near Raleigh, NC, in the heart and soul of ACC country. And while I enjoy ACC football, I love Hoya basketball so much more and would like to have some fun watching Hoya games, instead of going to random bars with a friend or two, or even my wife, and then having to beg them to put on the Hoya game.
Are there enough Hoya fans in the Triangle area to start some sort of club for watching games during the season? I don't know...but if you do live in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill or any of the surrounding areas, send me a personal message and let's see what we can do. I know of at least one bar (Sammys in Raleigh) that has clubs for fans of various college and pro sports going there to watch games. Maybe we could get something started.
Heck, there should be Hoya clubs in every major city. There have to be at least 10-20 Hoya fans who are interested, and it would be pretty easy to set up.
Let me know if you have any insight or ideas. Maybe the Hoop Club could help out or something.

Also perhaps we could organize events to go see local HS games featuring kids that the Hoyas are recruiting.

This has taken place in Chicago for years; I took up the organizing role from FreeNachos last year when I came back to town. I agree this should be pretty easy to set up and I'd be overjoyed if HHC could help with communication; I'll speak with HHC about this when the schedule gets set, as us Chicagoans also have quite a few road games nearby this year.

There have been a variety of NYC game-watching events, some in an official capacity, but the Georgetown Club of New York or an Alumni Class event, but most by board members here. I have seen Georgetown play at so many... Here's a few:
"Ship of Fools" - Upper East "The Back Page" - Upper East "Bar Coastal" - Upper East "Blondies" - Upper West Side "The Joshua Tree" - Midtown East. "Park Avenue Country Club" - Park Ave South. "ESPN ZONE" - Times Square. "Cafe 31" - MSG.
There are many more, but these are some of the more popular places among board members and Hoya alums.
We should definitely try to leverage the growing number of big-time Hoya Hoop fans in NYC and get a regular event going for the televised games, especially those NOT on National TV. I know a few bars who would be willing to set up specials, even a private room or something, if the numbers were right. More on this as the season approaches...
LET'S GO HOYAS!!!

That sounds awesome. I wish that we could get that going down here.
It would be great to represent for the Hoyas and Big East in the heart of ACC country. C'mon, there have to be at least some people from the Triangle Area on this board.

Roll call for Bay area hoyas...I am now officially on the west coast. Where you livin' at, Cambridge? I'm at Baker and Golden Gate (just west of Divis) but am looking to buy and move soon. We (Bay area Hoyas) usually watch at Bus Stop on Union, but that can change year to year.

Perhaps there could be at least regional clubs: Northeast, MidAtlantic, South, Southwest, Midwest, SoCal, Northwest...that way, when there is a game in that region, the regional club could organize a trip or something. Also, fans in the same localities could organize things in their areas.
I know that the HHC organizes events in DC, NYC, and maybe a few other areas, but besides that it seems that the legions of Hoya fans could be more united.

Are we sticking with the Bus Stop this year in SF? I'm fine with it, but I feel like we need some commitment from some other Bay Area Hoyas so that it's not 2 of us sitting in a bar drinking pitchers. How can we get the word out early and often and maybe get some people out to watch? And while we're at it, how do we get a road trip to Oregon planned? SF - you want to talk to Oleg?

Yeah, I'll talk to Oleg and see if we can get some kind of regular announcement for games and a trip to Oregon. But one of us will probably have to actually plan that trip. I can probably do that. Are you planning on going to Oregon? Quite a few folks on the rivals site are thinking of going as well.

I'll be at the bus stop. Consider Hoya basketball just about the only thing I'll commit to without hesitation outside of law school these days.

Hahaha...that goes for me, too, if you add UNC Football.

Yep - I'm up for traveling to Oregon, as long as there's lots o' beer involved. Would we drive together? Rent a bus? How long would it take to get there? We might have to do a microbrew brewery tour on the way there.

How much does it cost to rent a bus or RV? It's just over 500 miles. In a slow vehicle, that's 8-10 hours without stops. Stopping in Mendocino (required on the Microbrew tour) would take longer, but I'd be up for that.
Luckily, December 3rd is a Saturday.
