Says Dickinson and Moore both played at DeMatha Yes they both did under Mike Jones.

I see a lot of folks leaving, but nobody coming in... The fans, who left during the Thompson/Ewing debacle of the last decade, are coming back. I hear the current students are excited and “coming in”…

Hunter Dickinson would be a huge get. The guy is a great offensive player; I haven't seen him play but a friend who has says he's slow on defense. But, he's 7'1, shot three point shots at 42.1%, and twos at 58%. This would be a HUGE get if Cooley can pull it off.

I see a lot of folks leaving, but nobody coming in... I see it a lot differently. There's some folks in the portal, no one has committed anywhere, and we have two commits incoming (2023 : Fielder, 2024 : Mulready) already. I don't think we're behind at the moment.

I don’t remember specifically from last year, but I’d imagine that there’s a period where a ton of kids enter the portal, and then the coaches and players look around to see who’s out there and what teams have space before commitments start to pile up.

While I would not put Ewing's recruiting up there as an exemplar, we are by no means behind the ball based on past timing. (1) Brandon Murray committed to Georgetown on or around 4/12/2022. (2) Primo Spears committed to Georgetown on or around 4/30/2022. (3) Jay Heath committed to Georgetown on or around 4/30/2022. (4) Akok Akok committed to Georgetown on or around 5/2/2022. (5) Bradley Ezewiro committed to Georgetown on or around 5/11/2022. (6) Bryson Mozone committed to Georgetown on or around 5/15/2022. (7) Qudus Wahab committed to Georgetown on or around 5/24/2022. April really seems like the hot month for transfers. If May 1 comes and we have nobody, I'll start to worry but it's way too early to worry now.

All fair points, but giving the hype of the new coach, I expected to see more action on the recruiting front. Has he even completed his staff yet and who is this miracle DC recruiter.

My point is/was, Cooley had recruits who committed to him while at PC. There have been several reports that said recruits were coming with him to DC...After six days as you noted, two recruits joined the Hoyas. One in 2024 and the other in 2023 that we have no idea whether is is going to help this year or not...

Why would anybody sign immediately when they can milk a couple of all expense paid official visits to schools in FL, AZ and other places that don’t have winter?

I see a lot of folks leaving, but nobody coming in... This is kind of silly. Kids are declaring for the transfer portal now. They then like to get courted, take visits, etc. There have been almost no big time transfer commitments anywhere at this point.

Respect both points of view.
Curious to see how Cooley navigates the local area recruiting.
What he is doing now is one of the main reasons G-town wanted him: He is working the campaign trail and getting G-town's name (and brand) back out into the public eye. That is just who Cooley is naturally as a person. It is how he built Providence into a consistent winner. You could see it in the press conference. It is what G-town needed at this time.
Granted, while that is only part of the battle, it is a good start.

Agree with above that he seems to be off to a good start, but it's still way too early to have any real idea how successful he will be.
I'm curious to see if he tries to recruit in NY/NJ--Gtwn never really has been a player in NY Tri State, which was pretty much a JT2 thing as I always heard he thought the stars there were too entitled.

Anthony Perry, Rhese Gibson, Jameel Watkins, Jesse Sapp, Jesse Govan, Jagan Mosely, and Reggie Cameron come to mind as counterpoints, but don't necessarily constitute a pipeline.

Not only a Dematha kid but since he grew up in Alexandria (don’t know if his family still lives there but🤞🏻) , think we’d have a shot.. Not sure how Michigan and Maryland both being in Big 10 would cut though, so even if he wants to be closer to home could be a struggle…

Don't forget Freddy Brown from The BX.
That is the thing, we didn't necessarily need a pipeline given our area. The DC/B-more/PG/NoVA was our own backyard.
Did Cooley recruit the NYC/NJ areas at Providence?
Either way, there is more than enough talent locally to do well. Establishing NYC/NJ would be nice, but isn't necessarily vital.
