We are both passionate fans of the team. So, respectfully, I ask if you truly believe it is anti-Ewing sentiment that has made the Hoyas a laughingstock, or did our coach have something to do with it? I presume the poster did not mean that Anti-Ewing sentiment caused GU to be a laughingstock. Rather, there have been a handful of posters who openly proclaimed that they wanted GU to become a laughingstock in order to force Admin's hand in firing Ewing, Ronny, etc. It's pretty clear Ewing (deservedly) is out at the end of the season. A win or two to close out 2022-23 ain't gonna change that. Yeah Ewing was already a laughing stock at 0-20 but the admin clown show didn't do anything so it needed to be fully impossible to ignore for them to finally do something. If the Thompson dynasty in the last 10ish years adapted to the times (freedom of moment, social media etc), was more open to outside ideas/people and recent alumni, held transparent and fair hiring processes that lacked the shadow overlooking, stopped being obsessed with the past, rejected nepotism/cronyism and was more interactive with fans/students, then the anti-thompson sentiment would be non existent (at least for me) outside of a few voices as it would have led to a more successful program under whoever would be coach rn. But they chose to do the opposite of all of that, allow a hostile work environment, inserted unqualified people, further damaged recruiting image/relationships, would rather risk the health of the program and graduation rates than give it to an outsider, and many of these people had the audacity to blame others like the students/fans, players, NCAA, etc so it is time to finally move on and clean house.

We have beaten the 2 worst teams in the BE this year and they have been close. We can get St. John's but there is no way this team beats Providence or Creighton. Even at 3 wins, we would be tied for last. That would be 2 last place finishes in a row. I am sure there will be a wave of transfers again, our APR will be in the basement, we have ZERO recruiting buzz. I play old man basketball and last night there was a game in the gym we use. It was Sidwell v Paul the VI. UVA had a coach in the house. Hell, Waheed was there. You know who wasn't there? Anyone from the Gtown staff. These guys have quit recruiting because they know the end is here. To be fair, the staff had a game in Indianapolis last night. Wow! Boya being nice to the coaching staff. 😂

All the anti Ewing, anti Thompson, anti Admin folks got your wish-- The Hoyas are the laughing stock of college basketball. The dye has been cast already. At this point many of you can't even root for the young men who represent the school... That is just sad... It’s really sad and embarrassing to call themselves Gtown fans.

I actually disagree that they’re a laughing stock. They’re just a bunch of young guys who need competent coaching and they’re not getting it. I feel bad for them.

Since there seems to be some confusion about my post let me restate.
Those anti folks got there wish-- the team under performed. The admin is going to do what it is going to do (the dye has been cast). Now can we be happy for a win and root for a good outcome in the remaining games?
Regardless of the situation, I chose to root for the team this season and I'll worry about next season once a decision has been made.

Even if it means cheering for this disaster.“This disaster” is an embarrassment for the University and its alumni. I hope that everyone who created the disaster is gone next season. I hope that the eligible players stay under a new coach who is not a proven loser.

Exactly. It’s also important to remember that this team is nowhere even close to as good as the team that won the Big East Tournament (and even that team had to pull off a near miracle to win). There is no way this team wins the Big East Tournament. The Big East is too good and we would have to face a bunch of teams that have crushed us so far. Like some others, I worry that DeGioia and company will look at any number of wins as an improvement, and think there’s a reason to retain Ewing, but we should really be beyond that point now. So let me ask you this. If he wins the Big East tourney are you okay with him coaching next year? Yes or No? No

Ditto for your say in the matter. Oh no no, the difference is that I support who ever is in that position. Even if it were you, id support you. How can you support who ever is the coach if that person is ruining the program? How does that make you a fan? I'm reminded of a Mark Twain quote- "Loyalty to my country always....loyalty to the government when they deserve it." The Georgetown Hoyas are the country in this case and Ewing/whomever else the coach may be is the government. Ewing was given WAY more loyalty than anyone else could ever hope for....and he continues to not deserve it based on his performance. Why should it continue at the expense of the team and the program? How does that serve anyone but himself?

He has been an abject failure, and whether he has 1 miracle BET win or 2 is irrelevant. The team's performance moving forward does not matter for the decision as to whether to keep Ewing, as we have already seen enough from Ewing to warrant his dismissal regardless of what comes next. Nothing at this point can counterbalance the 2-35 record over the last two years, the utter failure of Ewing's program to shepherd our players on the academic side (the bad APR rankings that may lead to sanctions), the massive and routine roster upheaval and transfers, and more. People also seem to forget that even before the last 2 years, Ewing's record wasn't good other than the BET; it was better than this year or last, but still objectively bad. Don't forget that other than the BET win, Ewing has never won three Big East games in a row over SIX years.

After his last game, whenever that is, he should be banned from ever walking on campus again.

This has likely already been posted, but to me the most remarkable thing about the win over Butler is that Wahab had two assists.

What if Patrick Ewing found the fountain of youth, 4 years more of eligibility, and came back as a teenager/player to help us win another Championship? Your questions are absurd. We aren't making any Final Four with Patrick Ewing at the helm. We need a new coach, period. The time for Final Fours involving Patrick Ewing is long past. I realize you are having a hard time adjusting to the fact that someone not named Thompson/Ewing will be coach next year, but it's time.
