For me:
5. Mike Sweetney 4. Nat Burton 3. Don Reid 2. Boubacar Aw 1. Charles Smith
Being that I was born in '79, I was kinda young for the early-to-mid-eighties era (unfortunately).
Obviously, my favorites have all been hard, gritty workers who busted their tails to improve and played within their role on the team. Also, if you see a preference for DC area players, it is there, as I am from NW. Boubacar gets major love for his D, his intensity, his shooting form, and perhaps most of all, his quote in the Post that he learned English mostly by watching the news and Sanford and Son. What a way to be introduced to the English language-- with the best sit-com of all time!
Charles Smith remains my favorite basketball player ever. I followed him closely as a Hoya as well as during his improbable NBA career. His tragic incident was one of the most crushing moments of my youth, but he will always have much love.
Who's on your list?

Who's on your list? Sanford and Son? You big Dummy! ;D LOL! Isn't Charles Smith's little brother a D.C. Legend in basketball? Anyway, my favorite hoyas are as such: 1). Allen Iverson 2). David Wingate (Baltimore) 3). Reggie Williams (Baltimore) 4). Joey Brown 5). Michael Graham Really, my favorite Hoya of all time wasn't even a Hoya, but a Friar: Big JT2. What a man!

Alonzo and Deke also get huge love. People forget how raw Deke was when he got to Gtown, and that he only played three seasons, because he didn't know enough English at first to take the SATs.
On the other hand, Alonzo was a force from day one. It is scary to think how good he was as a frosh.
I wish Ruben had been healthier, but he was still very cool. He gets major play just for that dunk in '01 @ ND.

My favorite Hoyas are: 1. Pat Ewing 2. Allen Iverson 3. Charles Smith 4. Reggie Williams 5. D. Mutombo (classmate and Intramural opponent when he was a "project" and red-shirt freshman - I'll tell you about the game some other time)

I have routinely mentioned over the years (including very recently) that Zo was my favorite Hoya of all time. I even brought it up in our debates about Zo and Mike. Either you skipped over that part, unintentionally forgot or had very selective memory. Alonzo's teams were essentially the first GU teams that I followed. Nonetheless I'm still objective enough to point out when I think there is an inferior aspect, IMO, to Mourning's game when compared to other Hoyas. I gotta be honest.

1. Sweets 2. Patrick 3. Zo 4. Deke 5. Jeff
As you may have noticed, I favor centers and PFs.
Jeff, but no AI or Reggie, or even Wingate (who I liked a lot, even growing up in NYC), you ask? True, may seem heretical, but just love the things Jeff can do on the court and his quiet intensity (not identical to, but much like, Mike's). Like many others, I think he is a program changer that decades from now we still will talk about.
And, Jeff could move up this list, IMO, as crazy as that sounds.

1) Pat Ewing -- I was convinced he was following me: when I returned home to DC from the Boston area in the spring of ’80, he entered GU that fall. I moved to north Jersey in ’84; the Knicks drafted him the next year. He’s the ultimate Hoya.
2) Sleepy Floyd – One of our all-time greatest backcourt players. Sleepy had a complete floor game. And he could bomb with the best. If they’d had the three point shot during his career, he’d have an even larger lead for career points scored. His range was ridiculous.
3) Reggie Williams – His offensive game was wonderful to behold. Great range, and he could finish with the best. The Reggie and the Miracles team was a good example of Big John’s ability to make something out of “not much”.
4) Perry McDonald – Mr. Golden Gloves himself. A fantastic 6’5” low post player. If he’d been 4 inches taller, I’ll bet he’d have had an NBA career.
This is cheatin’, but if there’s a will there’s a_way…
5a) Michael Graham -- I’ll never forget reading about him in the old Eastern Basketball magazine the summer before his freshman year. The blurb went something like this: “A tremendous rebounder/rejector. Loves to run and dunk.” I couldn’t wait to see him! And, brother, did he deliver! He had Pat's back.
5b) Fred Brown – For those who never got to see Freddie his freshman and sophomore seasons, boy, you have no idea what a player he was before he blew out his knee. While he was not a shooter, Freddie was a quick, 6’5” floor leader who rebounded, played very strong defense and could score when necessary. BE ROY his freshman year.
5c) Charles Smith– His development from defensive role player (and that, perhaps, is overstating it) as a freshman to leading scorer and BE POY his senior season is truly one of the most remarkable stories in Hoya history. I never saw it coming, but I’m glad it did.
5d) Joey Brown – Mr. Hustle. For my money, he and AI had the biggest hearts of any Hoya. I’ll never forget how he would scrap under the boards. They don’t seem to make 'em like Joey anymore.
5e) Allen Iverson -- The most exciting Hoya of all.
