Wasn’t it Bill Parcells who said “you are what your record says you are”? If that is true, what is Ewing? Cue up the turntable. I'm a loooooooser. I've lost someone that's dear to me I'm a loooooooser. And I'm not what I appear to be.

Check the "starting 5" thread or the "current state of the program" thread where there has been plenty of posts about the coach. Feel free to post your optimism about the upcoming season however don't get mad if other folks question whether your views are possible.. Etomic I don't care if people believe my views are possible. I'm always taking the over so most years (Hoyas, Commanders, Pistons, Cubs) I'm going to be wrong. I'm good. Wow, that's quite a group of clubs. Where are the Sabres?

There is zero chance he leaving voluntarily without getting paid every penny. He’s entitled to that because that’s a deal they agreed to but pretend like he would leave money on the table for the good of the team or university is nonsense. What did GU do with the contracts of the past two fired coaches (who had recently signed extensions). Weren't both paid in full? Pat is getting his money either way. At this point the hypothetical is if he'd step away after another dismal performance, if the admin would fire him before the end of his contract (and he'd get the money), or if he'd insist on being the HC as long as his contract is active. Pardon me, but how exactly can he insist on remaining the head coach for the duration of the contract? I've never heard of any head coaching contract that works that way.

The only people who would be happy with 5-15 are people like you and hoyaboya and 9797. One can only imagine the rapturous joy you would all experience should your incomprehensibly lame anti-Ewing crusade come to fruition! See TC’s post to answer your dramatic nonsense. As to what would make me happy, I’ve mentioned a couple of times that I see a NCAAT roster. 10-10 should do it… That's fine. I see a roster that, with a possible exception or two, is an unknown. Now we may end up at the same place because it's Pat's roster, but the amount of talent is an open question for me.

The article is from a couple of months ago. The relevance is that it suggests that program loses professional employees like Hamamoto and the academic advisors because of Ronny Thompson's behavior, and also that there may be a problem with Ronny Thompson and female employees. If you support Patrick Ewing, I'm not sure why you wouldn't want him to be supported with the best employees he can find and a functional basketball department where there aren't power struggles. I have no reason to be, and am not, defending Ronny Thompson's performance. BUT, I think extrapolating from that article that there "may be a problem with him and female employees" is raw propagandizing, bordering on character assassination. I don't know how you don't question that a bit.

pr I have already stated that I believe we should be top half of BE next year. So I would imagine that requires at least 10-12 Ws. I'm not happy with Ewing and I thought he should have been fired but my argument wasn't record. That's short sighted and is what people who don't understand the game use as evidence. I expected more growth from the team as the season went on and most of the players seemed to regress. My issue is that talking over and over about the past or how bad our coach is just frustrating. We are stuck with Ewing for at least 2yrs so lets discuss basketball instead of divisive topics. How can folks talk basketball without discussing the coach? I agree. And Etomic, I have complete respect for the overall portfolio of your postings. Even though I might not always agree with everything you post, I always respect it. And I agree that discussing Coach absolutely should be on the table. I think what’s frustrating for a lot of people who frequent (or used to frequent) this board is the handful of posters who convey the exact same message about the coach but they say it in a 1000+ (growing each day) slightly different ways, despite each post adding absolutely zero additional value to their prior post. I say this while being in complete agreement with you about Hoyaboya - I personally disagree with 98% of his perspective (+feel like he’s crasser than my preferred style of convo) but, regardless of whether i agree with him, he adds legitimate thought/insight/value to the board. It just feels like the zero-value-add-beyond-origin-comment posts/posters (97 being the most overwhelming example of style that comes to mind) have become the dominating (completely useless) content on what what used to be a really good (very useful) message board. It’s unfortunate.

Unless his role was limited to the 2021 Big East tournament scouting reports, he hasn't had success Ah, okay. So, I guess the team bus driver hasn't been successful lately either. Gotcha No, no gotcha. Your analogy doesn't work. All signs we have point to Ronny Thompson having involvement in the operation of our program, not a logistical guy. I recall a report, for example, that Ronny had reached out to Broadus about coming back to Georgetown in the off season. Ronny has described himself as a "chief of staff," which would generally be understood as having involvement in the basketball side of the program. Reports indicate he has a lot of influence. The difference is that a team bus driver literally has nothing to do with basketball. His job is transporting a bus from Point A to Point B. Ronny's job, as far as we know, has to do with basketball and the basketball product has been problematic. If it comes out someday that all Ronny did was directing buses from Point A to Point B, then I'll admit I am wrong. But we literally have no reason to think that's the case.

Hoyasaxa9797, do you have a specific reason for calling for Ronny's job, or are you just randomly calling out someone who works for the program named Thompson? It is a reasonable question, but feel free not to answer if, as usual, you don't really have one.

Isn’t the better question how anyone who has been part of this death spiral still has a job at all?
There is not a person in the “upper management” of GU hoops who should feel, or be, safe.
I will exempt Lee Reed from this statement because it is clear there are programs at GU that are flourishing and it would appear that basketball decisions are made above his head.
Anyone else involved at any meaningful level should have a resume ready and a realtor on speed dial based on the last 5 years.

Record on the court and attendance in the stands are reasons enough to call for his job in my opinion.. Seeing that the basketball program doesn’t come under the purview of the athletic department Lee Reed gets a pass. So it’s either RT or JD but someone in the administration needs to be held accountable…

Those responsible for the crisis are still in charge. This needs to be a continuing discussion until there’s a solution. Ignoring it will not make it go away. Anyway, you wrote: Where have you seen a discussion of Ewing? I see constant micro-aggression and some blatant assaults but no discussion. It's constant Ewing sucks and also we have a recruit visiting. I would love to have a Ewing discussion. Go ahead and start it. What do you want to discuss?

I don't believe there will be a excuse for Ewing if this team doesn't at minimum be on the bubble. I don't have inside knowledge but this is what I believe. Nothing said on this site or any other like it will change Ewing's fate for this upcoming season..... And I don't consider complaints about Ewing having his job discussions. 😁 imo you really can't have a discussion on Ewing until he does something new to discuss. Like coach a game.
