If he can stay healthy this is the most important add of the offseason after Murray.

7-3 wing span and is a shot blocking machine. Just needs to stay healthy. Sounds like he can play center at this level.

He is the versatile, mobile, athletic big man the Hoyas have been missing for a few years. Capable of playing the 4 or the 5 at the Big East level. Health is the biggest concern with him , but if he can stay healthy he will be a really big piece of the rotation. Now go out and add one more center/power forward and the team will be rounding into shape nicely

Will echo others that this is a huge addition to the team. While his game is not the same as Tre King, he's similar in that he's a 4 that can comfortably slide up to the 5 when needed. Really offers some lineup flexibility to match up well against others. If Ryan takes a leap, great then that's a great front court. If Bass surprises to the upside, great slide him in at the 4 and Akok can play center. Against smaller teams we can slide up Bristol to the 4 etc.
I could see a Spears, Heath, Murray, Bristol, Akok lineup as very switchable defense as long as it can survive on the glass. Not suggesting it's our best 5 but definitely a great change of pace weapon.

Akok is a skilled big, not a robotic project like we’ve been accustom to.

Agree to some extent - but Akok seems to me to be very mobile and the way Pat plays the 5 may stymie him a little. Hopefully the coaching staff gives him the green light to take his jumper than opposing defenses will have to make some choices. Another words he does not look like a back to the basket player.

I hope that with the new coaching staff and new players, Coach Ewing will adjust his "back-to-the-basket" big man approach and give Akok or whoever is at the 5 and is capable of taking that outside shot.

Welcome to the Hilltop Akok!
I wanted him coming out of HS and while he has had injury problems, I hope he can be a good presence on the court. Hopefully Pat is showing him some early LeBlanc clips because that is what we need.

Akok is a skilled big, not a robotic project like we’ve been accustom to. why might Heath not be eligible? 2nd transfer, he went from BC to Arizona St so he needs to get a waiver as only the first is "free". I don't know if the waiver system has tightened up now that everyone gets a free transfer but historically that hasn't been a problem. never know though.

Both of those guys from St Bonnies would be a huge upgrade for the Hoyas, although the guard might cause some playing time issues for other players. Lofton would be the best PG on the team if he came, but it would mean that either Dante or Spears would not be getting much playing time. The big guy from St Bonnies would be a huge get and really solidly the front court, although it seems like they might be a package deal, so if you want him you might need to take the PG also.

It's a nice pickup. If he is totally recovered, he will start and I could see a decent stat line. If he isn't, not so much.

Considering that the PG would be our best player, you would have to take him and deal with the fallout.

When you don't have a 4 on the roster and there is a former Top 75 recruit available you take him. He doesn't seem like the same player as before the injury but that could have been a fit problem. His range of performance outcomes is probably highest on the team but at this point taking that risk is what we need. Welcome to The Hilltop Akok.
As for the Bonnies guys I am not as high on Lofton as most and with the current roster it would be more of the same. The Bonnies underachieved quite a bit this year as did Lofton. Adding another guard to the team and you have to start worrying about a Mackinjo implosion or losing the young players who have a chance to be very good in the future. No way all these transfer came to play backup minutes. Getting OO would be great but seems they are a package.

Now maybe his health issues from the last 2 years makes this version of AA moot. Im sure some will argue that. But you can't watch this highlight package from his freshman year at Uconn and even begin to think him and Tim I. have similar abilities or ceilings.
