Coach can't teach defense yet we blow Creighton out by damn near 30 points in the BET last year. Tell me what is the difference between what we did last year and what we are doing today. I attached a youtube video of the game so that you guys can tell me what the difference is and why you guys say Patrick can't teach defense.

It seems that post has since been deleted so I couldn’t comment on it directly, but I actually laughed out loud while reading it. I swear sometimes I can’t tell if this dude is just a delusional caricature of an actual fan or the greatest troll of all time. Either way, at this point I’m hoping Ewing gets fired just to see if he keeps his word that he would leave here for good. I had to wait to 12 to be sure that I didn't violate the post rules. But anyways, you can comment on this post. I deleted the post because admin edited my post. But anyways, if I run into Ewing before he leaves I'll make sure to get a picture of it and post it on here for you so that you have egg on your face. Secondly, yeah I did say I would leave and I will hold onto my promise but only after I laugh at you and the rest of the Hoyatalk gang when Georgetown continues losing and it turns out that what I said was true. So give me another year after Ewing is gone to hang around on Hoyatalk so I can rub it in you guys face and get the last laugh. Also, I have five years of season tickets. If Ewing doesn't return next year, I may go to next year's game and look for you so call alumni. I bet you won't show up for the games. I bet you a million dollars you won't show up fair weaher. This has to be a troll. This can't be real. Ewing and I stare at each other before tip off just gazing into each other's eyes. c'mon how could I have thought this was real? I bet you a million dollars? That's the same bet my 11 year old son makes about everything he thinks he's right about. C'mon this can't be a grown man You will hold on for a year for what again? When the next coach isn't better than Ewing? So what's the next coach have to do? Go 1-11 in their first 12 BE games instead of 0-12, boy how will anyone ever top that? You know what I am convinced let's just keep Ewing for a decade and see if he can turn it around. What the heck. I assume if you yell rebound for 10 years it eventually sinks in. I will start saving my million dollars now...

Or are you going to b&&5 and moan next year too? Come on out and see your alma mater.

We’ve come to a point where mathematically it will be impossible for the next coach to do worse.

Georgetown’s most frequent starting lineup includes: Kaiden Rice (23 years old), Donald Carey (22 years old), Timothy Ighoefe (21 years old), Dante Harris (21 years old). Rice is not the starter. Collin is the starter. Number of games played by starters Dante 46 Carey 107 Big Tim 51 Collin 29 Aminu 22 Most Big East schools if not all of them have a starting lineup with waaaay more games played Marquette damn near has 500 Our bench has a bunch of Freshmen and guys who haven't played much because of injuries. Yet the Hoyatalk gang members expect for this team to compete with the likes of Villanova, St Johns, Connecticut, Marquette. These dudes on here are delusional. Holloway tied Rice today with 13 starts, Rice played more today and averages 4 mpg more. You said 18 and 19 year olds can’t be expected to compete with 20,21,22 year olds. But 4 of Georgetown’s key players are 21+. Delusional is thinking you locked eyes with Patrick Ewing at a game and thought about going to go speak to him, not expecting to compete with teams like St. John’s and Marquette.

It isn't the coach, it's the Georgetown program. I told you that once before. And since “numbers don’t lie”, the next coach is almost certain to win a Big East game, so wouldn’t that be an improvement? This is my last post for tonight. My question to you is do you just want to win one game? What if you win 6 Big East games, would that make you happy? If the next coach doesn't get any seniors on this team with the current make up, he might win a few games but only a few. But it ain't about how many games he wins next year. It is about the trajectory of the program. Will this coach be able to make some headway with recruiting? That is the question. We all can surmise that next year is going to be struggle and if coach Ewing or some other coach expects to win with such an inexperienced bunch against more stable programs in the Big East, that coach will have to have some impact transfers on the team. I said this last year when I realize that Pickett, Bile and Blair were not going to come back for the Covid bonus. I knew it was going to be a struggle for this team. Many on here didn't want the seniors back and many on here kept saying they wanted high school players and some even mistakenly said that this is how you build a winning program (with high school players). No you build a winning program with a balance of upperclassmen, talented high school players and nowadays with impact transfer players. The reason why it will be hard for the next coach is because no one (high school recruits) wants to come to Georgetown. Think how hard it was for Ewing to recruit players. He damn near had to beg Akinjo and Mac to come here and that was after they decommitted from their schools. If Akinjo hadn't come here we would have been even worse off because Ewing couldn't land a decent pg. None of the local kids wanted to come here and the kid from Gonzaga reneged on us as he really wanted to play for Michigan. Speaking of which, how many times has Ewing had a top recruit in his hands only to be taken away at the last minute by a blue blood? Haven't you guys been paying attention to the recruiting the last ten years? Even at the end of JTIII's tenure, he had a hard time recruiting.

This is my last post for tonight... The reason why it will be hard for the next coach is because no one (high school recruits) wants to come to Georgetown. As of right now, Pat already has two high school recruits (Denver and Bass) and is looking for more. Pat is able to recruit even though he’s four losses from having the worst coaching record in GU basketball history. Imagine what a winning coach could bring in. Build it and they will come.

Let’s talk truth it’s Black History Month. There’s some on this board that hate to see the Thompson and Ewing legacy. Georgetown is too black for them. That’s my opinion. Ah, right, let’s bring race into it. You clown. Grow up.

This is just too ridiculous to be real. You really think the narrative is that we hate the Thompson /Ewing legacy so much, that we just can’t stand to see Ewing succeed? What’s Ewing’s legacy going to be as a COACH? While he might be the only person to win the BET as a player and a coach, he’s also the coach with the worst major conference team in not just Georgetown history but BE history. He doesn’t need us fans to tarnish his legacy, he’s doing that all on his own. We just want results! It’s a results based business. If we were a .500 team right now, even a few games below .500 but looking better game to game, it would be a lot quieter around here. No one gives a damn about what color the coach is, is the team going to win games without involving the program in scandal? Ewing hasn’t even gotten that part right. Every years it’s a kid who messed up and gets kicked out of school. Without winning some games, there really won’t be anything left of the Georgetown program for them to lord themselves over.

tafkashfsee and hoyaroc -- who is sabotaging Ewing? Is there an organized conspiracy at Georgetown that is whispering into the ears of current players and prospective players and urging them to either transfer or not commit? It's called accountability. He's the head coach -- that means he's responsible for for the performance of the team. You make it sound like the university is throwing his best players out of school or somehow nixing commitments at the 11th hour. Who hired Louis Orr, Kirby and Wahad? Who insists that they can't be fired? Who ran McClung and Akinjo off? Did that same person fill out an application to College Park for Q?
You guys are acting like Ewing is having a bad year -- he's had a bad four and a half years. He hasn't had a good year. He had a good month last season. This has been a failure of a tenure -- and as the head coach, he's ultimately responsible. That's how this works here and literally at every other college basketball program that has any aspirations of just being competitive. I don't know what line of work you are in, but this isn't unique to basketball. When an organization fails, the head of the organization has to be held accountable.
For the record, I think that Georgetown should prioritize African-American candidates in the next head coach search. The school did a great thing in 1972 by hiring an unproven, young, smart, driven, Black coach from DC. While I'd prefer the next coach to come from the college ranks and not high school, the closer we can get to JT2 circa 1972 the better in my opinion. I want someone who is going to show up, clean house, rebuild fast, take no sh*t, recruit locally, do it his own way, be on the Hilltop for 25 years ... and win ... win the Big East and win a National Championship. That's a much better way to honor John Thompson's legacy and impact than hiring his family, friends and former players.

Guys - when certain other posters say crazy things, it is probably better to just ignore them rather than the entire board trying to change their minds.
Who cares if there are 2 people left who value staring into Pat's eyes over winning games? Outside of them, there is a broad consensus on what needs to happen.
