"A few months back when Dwayne Aristode made the trek over to the U.S. from the Netherlands to play at Brewster Academy for his junior season, the 6-foot-7 wing was clear on the inevitable adjustments that would accompany the move. Aristode played in Spain for three years with Club Joventut Badalona, but his coming out party was last year when he competed with the Netherlands in the 2022 U16 European Championships. There he pumped in 15.3 points, nine rebounds, 3.1 assists and two steals a game... When asked which programs are reaching out most consistently, Aristode named Duke, UCLA, Wake Forest, Arizona, Georgetown, Xavier and Connecticut. “A lot of the schools have been talking to me since the summer,” Aristode said. “There are more schools that are reaching out too. That’s been cool, just talking to the coaches and getting to know the different staffs, but I’m just focusing on hooping right now.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/dwayne-aristode-emerging-as-a-star-in-the-2025-class"Dwayne Aristode is off to a strong start to his playing career in the states. Aristode, a 6-foot-7, 185 pound forward from the Netherlands made his debut into the national rankings at No. 24 and has already made strong impressions to college coaches around the country. “It’s my first year in the states and I learn quick,” he said. “I’m fully adapted now. I feel like pace, physicality, and athleticism are the main difference from play here and back in Europe and I adjusted to it.” When it comes to his recruitment, Aristode has taken official visits to Wake Forest and Arizona. He has also seen head coaches from Virginia and Xavier at his games this season. Aristode does not have any future dates set but is in the process of finalizing dates for the near future. “Right now I’m just chilling and focusing on my team,” he said. “In a few weeks we’ll have break so I’ll prob visit a school. I don’t know which school I want to visit first but I’ll probably visit Duke or UConn.” 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/article/college-basketball-dwayne-aristode-duke-uconn--227799114/

"On3 caught up with four-star Sadiq White after a live viewing at this weekend’s Good Guys vs. Cancer event to talk recruiting. “I haven’t taken any official visits yet, and I don’t have any planned right now,” White said. “I’ve taken unofficial visits to South Carolina, Syracuse, and NC State. They’ve all offered me.” South Carolina: “It really is like a family down there. Coach (Eddie) Shannon embraced me really early, and I had a good time down there on my visit. They play fast, so that is really good. They play with a lot of spacing and let their athletic guys get downhill. I like how they let their athletes be athletic and clean up down there.” Syracuse: “The coaching staff, Coach (Adrian) Autry and Coach B (Brandon Straughn) and G-Mac (Gerry McNamara), they all embraced me real well went I visited. They like my versatility and think that would fit well with how they’re trying to play. I talk with them almost every day, about life, about basketball, about expanding my game. Everything.” NC State: “Coach (Joel) Justus has been great. He’s wanted me to come over and check out the program, and see how they work. And those guys work over there, they really get after it. They’re really physical as a team, and I love that. They have a bunch of dogs over there.” “I’ve heard from Arkansas a good bit, Coach (Ronnie) Brewer and Muss (Eric Musselman),” White said. “Duke and UNC are both starting to express more interest recently.” www.on3.com/news/sadiq-white-talks-south-carolina-syracuse-nc-state-visits-breaks-down-recruitment/"PI: You’re running with Team United for AAU — what are you most excited about this Spring/Summer? SW: Being at Peach Jam this year with those guys, we added some good pieces from around the state. So just looking to win, man, go as far as we can — go out in my junior year with a bang and as a back-to-back state champion and then also a Peach Jam champion. PI: Any particular guys you’re looking forward to playing with on Team United? SW: Yeah, all my team, all my AAU teammates, you know? Zymicah Wilkins, Colt Langdon, just to name a few. PI: What is your recruitment update? Who have you been hearing from the most, lately? SW: I've heard from Syracuse…Tennessee…Arkansas is really big right now. Georgetown. PI: Do you have a dream school growing up? SW: I really don’t have a dream school." www.prospectiveinsight.com/post/sadiq-white

Posted this in the wrong class/thread last night/now moving to basically the right spot: Sidwell beat Gonzaga 53-52 in the DC semis at McDonough, and Cooley was there for at least the entire second half and heartily congratulated the Sidwell staff following the game. (He also was there for the end of a close St. John's vs. Jackson-Reed game earlier (picture from the Sidwell/Gonzaga game below and other picture is from the last moments of SJCP game). Both Lewiss (Acaden for Sidwell and Nik for Gonzaga) really impressed, with the edge tonight perhaps slightly to Acaden (who hit a pair of huge back to back threes when it looked like Gonzaga could pull away, and all night just slithered to/around the rim). Nik is probably more expolsive, but Acaden is more "crafty" (as was/always is Caleb Williams, who also looked very good, especially in taking it to the rack when Gonzaga couldn't match up with him). I don't know points for anyone (sorry) and the Lewiss didn't generally guard each other, in case anyone was wondering. I have no clue how such decisions are made but I have to think a selling point for us with Acaden has to be how well he plays with Caleb (repeatedly evidenced tonight) and the chance to continue to do so. The very adoring crowd Sidwell has at games/their transference to GU games has to help too I would think. But EITHER Lewis would be a coup... FYI, the Sunday DC final at Smith Center will feature identical Sidwell vs. St. John's College Prep games for both the boys and girls, with the SJCP boys dispatching two-time runner up Jackson Reed by three and the SJCP girls destroying Maret (after Sidwell's girls handled Carrol's readily) Girls final at 6 and Boys at 8…

"George Washington is the latest to offer 2025 wing guard Jalen Rougier-Roane. Well-built athlete with advanced ball skills, strong positional size & multilevel scoring ability. Fluid spot-up scorer who can score on the perimeter, yet he’s proved to be a functional pull-up scorer when given the space. Aggressive slasher at the point of attack who plays highly physical on the drive. Penn State, Xavier, Towson, & more have offered the Team Takeover product this spring." www.madehoops.com/made-society/articles/made_recruiting_report_2025_1.aspx"The beginning of the end was a Sidwell Friends alley-oop, initiated by Jake Williams and finished off by Jalen Rougier-Roane. It came midway through the third quarter of the D.C. State Athletic Association boys’ basketball championship game, and it gave the No. 5 Quakers a three-point lead over No. 10 St. John’s... On Sunday night at George Washington University’s Smith Center, the Quakers saw an opportunity to finish off an obdurate Cadets team, and they took advantage of it. Rougier-Roane’s dunk was the beginning of an 11-0 run that put the Quakers on track for a 47-37 victory... Rougier-Roane, who suffered a grisly leg injury in last year’s DCSAA title game, returned to Smith Center with an eye on redemption. He scored eight straight points in that second-half run and was pleased not to be on crutches in the postgame celebration. He earned game MVP honors with 15 points." www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2024/03/03/sidwell-friends-boys-dcsaa-basketball-champions/#

"Derek Dixon, the No. 74 overall prospect in the class of 2025 is leading a loaded recruitment. The 6-foot-3, 190 point guard from Washington (DC) holds offers and interest from various high major programs. “The recruitment process is good, I’m just trying to get the experience and not make any decisions yet. I’m taking it in and hearing from all the coaches.”... “Virginia, Villanova, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse have been recruiting me hard. Iowa, West Virginia, and Miami have recently offered me. Those are just schools I’m looking at.” Dixon continued: “ I went to Virginia, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Villanova for the Midnight Madness for visits. I don’t have any visits coming up yet but I’m working on that. At some point visiting Iowa, West Virginia, maybe Kansas and Miami.” 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/article/college-basketball-derek-dixon-pitt-villanova-syracuse--220714176/

"4-star PG Chance Malloy (2025) has been one of the biggest standouts of this season’s tournament. The 5-foot-10 point guard had another standout performance in the championship game of the Coby White Division. Mallory is a skilled and compact lead guard who has range out to 30-plus feet and a tight handle that gets him to open spots on the floor. The MVP of his division finished with 27 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals in the win." www.on3.com/news/john-wall-holiday-invitational-day-3-top-performers-drake-powell-paul-mcneil-jayden-quaintance/"On3 MVP: Four-Star PG Chance Mallory (2025) There is a toughness factor that Chance Mallory brings to the game that is hard to ignore. The Charlottesville (VA) St. Anne’s Bellfield guard plays with a ton of confidence and brings it on both ends of the floor every minute he is in the game. Mallory is very skilled which is enhanced by the toughness. His range extends out to 30 or so feet, and he is comfortable knocking it down off the bounce or off the catch. When defenses press too high on him, he attacks the paint. Mallory’s decision-making was excellent today, processing quickly and delivering precisely. Mallory is around 5-foot-10, so some will question the size, but he competed on the defensive end of the floor, guarding especially well in the open floor. Virginia Tech head coach Mike Young and an assistant were courtside along with coaches from West Virginia, Notre Dame, LSU, and Georgetown to watch. Mallory finished with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and nine assists in the win." www.on3.com/news/john-wall-holiday-invitational-day-one-top-performers/"Chance Mallory, a 5-foot-10 point guard out of Charlottesville (VA) St Anne’s-Belfield School, will be attending Virginia’s matchup against Virginia Tech on Wednesday night. The four-star junior holds an offer from the Cavaliers and unofficially visited the school in September. Along with Virginia, Mallory holds offers from Clemson, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, and others." www.on3.com/college/virginia-cavaliers/news/4-star-pg-chance-mallory-to-be-in-attendance-for-virginia-game/"Chance Mallory, a four-star point guard in the 2025 class, will be taking an unofficial visit to Tennessee on Saturday, March 9th and will be in attendance for the Vols game against Kentucky. This will be his first time visiting Knoxville. He’s also taken unofficial visits to Virginia, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Clemson, and West Virginia. The 5-foot-10 junior out of St Anne’s-Belfield School in Charlottesville, VA holds an offer from the Vols, along with schools like Indiana, Virginia, Villanova, Maryland and others. According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Mallory is the No. 87 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle. He’s also the No. 15 point guard prospect. The On3 Industry Ranking is a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3’s evaluators are higher on Mallory, ranking him 67th overall in the On3 Top-150 Player Rankings." www.on3.com/college/tennessee-volunteers/news/4-star-pg-chance-mallory-sets-unofficial-visit-to-tennessee/

Literally all of those kids in the 60-100 range. Adlan Elamin, who barely plays for PVI, is better than Cam Ward? Better than Acaden Lewis? Than Chance Mallory? Different positions, I know, but come on.

I *love* JRR. Shoots it, defends the best player every game, very underrated. Did the injury keep him from being ranked? Heard highly of him but very little movement with rankings or offers. No idea. He is going to be a sneaky good pick up. He plays TTO with highly ranked guys like Derek Dixon and HS with Acaden Lewis, so I don't know how he's been this overlooked.

The 17-year-old, 7-foot-2 center from South Sudan has been developing at the NBA Academy Africa in Senegal since 2021. He was named MVP of the NBA's Basketball Without Borders Africa camp in August, then earned a spot on the South Sudan senior national team, becoming the third-youngest player in FIBA World Cup history. Previously slated to graduate high school in 2025, Maluach is being recruited by the likes of Duke, Kentucky, UCLA, Kansas and Baylor, and now has the option to join a college program a year early should he choose. www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/39135096/top-prospect-khaman-maluach-eligible-2025-draft:International star Khaman Maluach has committed to Duke International star Khaman Maluach has committed to the Duke Blue Devils, further bolstering their standing as the No. 1 class in 2024. "Class of 2025 four-stars Nyk Lewis and Derek Dixon were instrumental in Gonzaga HS’s (DC.) 72-67 HoopHall Classic win over Hudson Catholic (NJ.) on Sunday. Lewis was named the game MVP with 17 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds, while Dixon posted 19 points and 3 assists, including a game-clinching layup assisted by Lewis... “I’ll probably commit around the end of summer, beginning of senior year,” he said. He’ll take visits at the end of Gonzaga’s season aside from his upcoming official visit to Xavier. “The coaches are really coming into contact with me, so I’m excited to get out there Feb. 10.” Aside from his five previous visits, Lewis mentioned he’d like to see LSU, Tennessee and Auburn over the summer." www.zagsblog.com/2024/01/17/gonzaga-hs-four-star-backcourt-nyk-lewis-derek-dixon-shine-on-hoophall-national-stage/"On the recruitment front, Lewis has taken official visits to Oklahoma State and Marquette and will visit Xavier on February 10th. LSU and Tennessee are possible destinations as well. Lewis broke down the schools involved in his recruitment and recapped his official visits with 247Sports. Oklahoma State: “That visit was really good and I was there for a football game. It was a while ago but it was a really big game and they took down the field goal post after.” Marquette: “I went for a basketball game when they played Rider. I had a lot of good meetings with the coaches and they really liked me for me. On the visit I got to kick it with some of the players, see how they live, and communicate with each other.” Xavier: “They’re always telling me I could be the next big point guard to come out of Xavier so they’re trying to keep in contact with me. Coach Miller and Cohen keep in contact with me daily and I feel a lot of love coming from there.” Georgetown: “Coach Cooley is a friendly coach who talks to you like he’s one of the guys. That’s what I really like about him. He’s taken me to some of the games and I had breakfast with him. We have a really good relationship.” LSU: “They were the first school to contact me on June 15th so I feel like it’s a lot of love.” Tennessee: “They’ve been pretty involved so I’ll see them down the road.” At this point Lewis will take his time and won’t rush his decision. “I want to take my time and make the best decision for me,” he said. “I’ll probably make my decision in the summer or beginning of my senior year.” 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/article/college-basketball-nyk-lewis-marquette-oklahoma-state-xavier-225861691/"The No. 57 overall prospect in the class of 2025, Nyk Lewis had a strong end to his junior season. Lewis, a 6-foot-1, 190 pound point guard who plays for Gonzaga High School in Washington D.C was the catalyst to their run to the WCAC final next to fellow four-star Derek Dixon. “I feel like I handled the ball well this season,” he said. “I handled pressure, got my teammates involved when they needed to be Involved, and scored when I needed to score.” In a successful season for both Lewis and Dixon, Lewis embraced playing with another strong guard in the backcourt but will look to play the point exclusively at the next level... “My recruitment is going pretty well,” he said. “I’m talking to Seton Hall, Marquette, Xavier and LSU right now.” Lewis has taken officials to Oklahoma State, and Marquette and is in the process of setting an official to Xavier in the near future." 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/article/college-basketball-nyk-lewis-xavier-oklahoma-state-marquette-228233333/

From my alma mater, St. Mary's Manhasset:
Bascombe Unsigned League MVP The Long Island CHSAA recently came to a close when Chaminade captured its second straight title over St. John the Baptist. While they head to off to compete for a state championship, the league also made another big announcement. That would be that 6’0” G Jagger Bascombe (St. Mary’s HS, NY ’24) was not only named to the CHSAA First Team he was voted League MVP.
Bascombe was a revelation this season for St. Mary’s as he led the entire league in scoring with over 20-points a game. He has been putting numbers up all year, even against non-league competition. He had 40-points when they played a really tough Half Hollow Hills East HS squad. In his final game, despite losing to the Flyers, he had 31-points in one of the most impressive individual playoff performances for some time. The senior has uniqueness about his game, relying on inside scoring, transition, mid-range jumpers and the free throw line. We love how much pressure he applies to the defense at all three levels. Along with his ability to deal with double teams.
While the standout senior has done nothing but handle his end of the bargain by taking a massive leap this season, he still remains an unsigned prospect. He is physical, and his coaches tell me he’s amazing. He loves his teammates and works hard, he just wants an opportunity. We believe he would be an awesome prep candidate, especially being a little bit of a late-bloomer prospect. A smart D2 or D3 program could steal him right now, but with today’s recruitment world, we will have to wait and see. The path for him could be unique but we wanted to make sure he got his due for putting together such a terrific senior campaign.
