Given his size and skill set….a natural comp might be someone like DSR. For those who have seen him play…are there any similarities to DSR here and if not, how does he differ? Nah. better shooter, more athletic, better defender, but not as big. Better shooter is saying a lot. Better defender? Not so much. That said, I'll take a DSR every damned day.

DSR was thick and could bully opposing guards. Anglin is more of a finesse shooter. Excited to have him aboard.

I hope your right because DSR was a walking bucket!!!! If he's even in DSR's stratosphere we got a good one. Match that with Anglin's defensive prowess, WATCH OUT!!!

Not a comment on DSR's overall defensive career, but his block of Roosevelt Jones attempted game tying last second shot the game where we beat Butler something like 61-59 is on my personal highlight reel. January 2015, I think it was.

One thing for sure…is we got another dawg in Anglin. The kid has a will to win and the desire to “kill” that will blend in very well with guys like Dante, and Jordan. We are going to be tough….that’s for sure.

Think we need to take a step back from the DSR comparisons for a second. DSR is top-5 in scoring all-time at GU, which is not an easy feat considering he accomplished it during the JT3 years when we played slow. And once Markel graduated, he was forced to play out of his natural position at PG and more than held his own (4.5 apg, 2.1 A/TO ratio by his senior year). He was asked to create for himself and take tough contested shots at the end of the shot clock (yes, we used to do that on purpose) when no one else wanted to shoot the ball, which undoubtedly put a dent in that 36% career 3pt percentage.
Hoping Anglin can be a productive player at the college level, and the shooting is definitely a plus for a team that just lost a lot of shooting from last year. Becoming a plus perimeter defender would be helpful too, since we've had very little of that in recent seasons. But we are getting way ahead of ourselves comparing him to DSR before he even steps foot on campus.

The comparison is to DSR because Anglin is that good of a shooter. Whether it translates is a whole different question (that’s mental), but at the same stage Denver Anglin is as good or better of a shooter than DSR was at the same stage. That much I guess can be up for debate, but by performance and reputation both are very good shooters but one had a sliiiighlty better pedigree in hs.

Their games aren’t similar but Anglin is a better shooter coming in for sure. He has NBA range, a lightning quick release, strong pull up game, and he can make shots of movement ie. flares, pin downs, and dribble hand offs. That doesn’t mean he’ll have a better career or put up more points. A lot of that comes down to role and usage.

That shooting form is excellent. Congratulations Coaching Staff, Denver & Anglin family. From watching a few clips…the form isn’t just excellent…it’s fast! His stop and pop is so smooth. You have to be right up on him or the ball is out of his fingers before you can get there.

My preference remains either one of those and Brumbaugh (why? He's a unique player that has the ability to make everyone around him better...at 6'4 he's the ideal compliment to Harris...he's likely at least a 3 year player...the ratings people are starting to recognize his value as he's jumped to #57...he has a high bball IQ and strong leadership qualities)...
