I would not favor the Hoyas in this game. Depaul is more competitive than people think, playing at home and knows they can beat the Hoyas after years of frustration. Hoyas regressed again after and encouraging game against Seton Hall. Slow to react, shooting poorly, not hustling for loose balls. Only consistent part of Hoyas game this year has been an extraordinary number of careless TOs. Not a recipe for winning against anyone. Ewing again has to figure out how to get the best out of this group.

This is probably the most critical game of the season for he who Must not be named and his minions. And because of that this is also the most critical game for the Ewing/Thompson supporters as well.
This is basically the Super Bowl for our season because of the ramifications.

This is what the program has become in Year 4 of the Ewing regime: a 7-11 Hoyas team playing a 4-11 DePaul team is our “Super Bowl”. Hello - is anybody paying attention out there? What a joke for a program with the resources of Georgetown.

I don’t get the bit. PM me if necessary 😂 And what the heck happened to Jalen Harris? He just, like, vanished. I know he took a leave in December - I’m assuming I missed the news that he was never coming back?

I find it odd this is a Noon EST start (11 AM CST) in Chicago. Can't recall too many games at DePaul this early. Hopefully it throws them off more than us...

From the pre-game report on Hoyasaxa--quotes from the Depaul Student newspaper. Two formerly great programs struggling for relevance.
"Every year we kind of had a little hope going into games. We were probably going to lose, but we could win. I don't feel like that now."
"You can see some of the guys who are really hardcore fans are not even excited to watch games anymore. It's really hard to even get excited to muster up energy to watch, and that's not good. That's not good for the program."
"When I normally used to watch the games, I stand up in my family room and watch them like I'm on the bench or something. But I don't have that desire like I did in the past here at all. It's just sad to see the program reach these lowest levels."
No longer certain which Hoya team will show up today but it is critical that this program show significant progress at the end of February from earlier this season to give some hope that the corner has turned. A loss to a better than its record team in Depaul-- no matter the circumstances-- would not indicate that progress has been made.

-3 now. Not really sure we deserve to be that big a road favorite against any P6 team.

Ewing/Thompson Hater's Club Super Bowl Saturday. This is a must lose game for them. Out of curiosity how come it’s no longer a Super Bowl for the so called “ Supporters”of the program? Because if the Hoyas win, the Ewing/Thompson haters will just say, you were supposed to beat a horrible DePaul team that was also missing Liberty which makes DePaul 100x as horrible. And you still barely beat them by 25 points and still didn't play Berger. So winning isn't really a victory for the Ewing/Thompson lovers. But if the DePaul wins then it's a Super Bowl victory for the Ewing/Thompson Haters Club because they will be able to point to this game all off-season as a reason to get rid of Ewing. This is basically their last chance (barring meeting DePaul in the BET) because as much as they would like to, a loss to UCONN isn't a bad loss (since they are an NCAA tournament caliber team with Bouknight. IMO they will likely get to the 2nd weekend if they make the tournament.) and a loss to Xavier wouldn't be a bad loss. So this is it, Custard's Last Stand for them. The Magnitude of this game is huge for their cause.

I hope we can grab a win today. As someone else pointed out, we have not finished out seasons well in recent years. I think this game is really important to keep some momentum going. DePaul looked strong against St. John’s last weekend, but this is a team we should beat.
I hope we see more energy after the game against UConn. We need more loose balls, better shot selection, and more discipline on offense and defense. I don’t think we have given up on the season, so I expect a strong performance today. Hope we can get the win.
