One of the guards on the other team was Hinnant from BC, a former BE school. There's still a difference between the D that is played in summer league games, and the D that is played in Big East games....a pretty big difference too.

Still, Wallace is penetrating much better this year in Kenner than he did last year.

True - and at least he is using his time there to practice a new skill to get ready to use it in BE play.

Louis Hinnant is also a local kid who attended Gwynn Park.

Wallace would very seldom turn the corner at all last year, so he has gotten much better at that. His shot will fall. He's a shooter. I think his added muscle has adjusted his shot. Once he gets used to shooting with the added muscle, he'll be fine. Great kid!!

Wallace has impressed me this summer. He's clearly working on his penetration and defense. He had a couple of nice steals yesterday. I think some of Bowman's frustrations was from Ewing and Wallace double teaming him. Of course, he doesn't have much help from his teammates. Wallace is looking like someone working hard to keep his starting spot.
Clearly Jeff Green was again the best player on the court. The other guys had no one who could stop him. Looks like he's bigger than last year, but not that much.
Sapp looked nervous early on but settled down and played solid D in the second half and hit a 3. He also made some good passes but needs to work on his handle. Thornton played tough defense on the guy from BC and has a nice looking shot that wouldn't fall. Egerson had a quiet game but was playing hard. Ewing actually made a couple of jump shots but his value to the team will be interior defense and rebounding. I can see him developing into a Jerome Williams with more offense. Not a bad prospect.
Didn't see the earlier game, but saw Big Roy on the sidelines. He looked tired. He was talking to (I think) Dwayne Bryant.

Forgot to mention that everyone was in the house. All the Gtown players on the Tombs. Tyler and Brandon were talking with Hibbert just before the game between Hibbert's and Tyler's teams. Later on Sead would drop by and chat with Bowman. He watched a couple of today's games while in the stands. It looked like he was going to play because he had on his own basketball uni. however I never saw him on the floor. Perhaps he played in the first game that I missed. Later Amadou would walk by (no crutches) and he had on the same uni as Sead. So either the uniforms they were wearing were just outfits Hoya team members wore during practice or the two of them play for the same summer squad. Cook sat in the stands for awhile after his game was over. The only player I don't recall seeing was Owens. This would be the second straight time Owens was not playing with the team he was assigned to which suggests to me he is not around for the second summer session (I think that was the case last summer too...he played in the KL during the first summer session but was gone when the second rolled around).
JT3 and Lori and the Tombs' coach had a conversation before tipoff and then left minutes before the game started.

This game was like a 2 point game late in the first half, until Jessie Sapp hit some shots that gave Tombs an 8-point lead at the half. J.Sapp needs more playing time, he could do BIG things if he played more. In the second half Tombs blew them away, I believe the final score was 78-47. Brandon Bowman also looked depressed and sat on the bench for a while after losing to Tyler Crawford's team by 2 points due to some ridiculous plays by his teammates at the end of that game. It shows me that B.Bowman is competitive and wants to win, even in the summer. B.Bowman should be ANGRY at the Kenner League organizers for not putting more studs on his team. I believe his team is like 1-5.
A guy who played well on Trophies and Awards is Devin Sweetney(he wore number 15), he is the cousin of Mike Sweetney. I thought B.Bowman would have quit and not played with Trophies and Awards anymore. In the past, I've seen good players stop showing up for Kenner League games if the team wasn't good or if they weren't getting a lot of shots. I saw several outstanding local guys playing for the first time yesterday(Abdullah Jalloh, Stanley Hodge, Lorenzo Miles), they should have put them on Brandon's team. I saw JTIII call B.Bowman over to him after his sulking on the bench and say a few words to him.
The BIG game will be when Tombs plays against Clyde's(Ashanti and Roy's team). I believe they are undefeated like Tombs and they are STACKED like Tombs. Clyde's beat Tyler Crawford's team by about 40. Tony Bethel showed up at yesterday in his N.C.State gear, looked like he was going to play, but never did.

Devin has much more hops than his cousin that's for sure. It was nice to see Miles. I actually wanted the Hoyas to recruit him. The guy can penetrate all game long. I think that the Clyde team is just the third best team in the KL (although the addition of the GW guard really helps). I still feel Universal is second best and only have a loss in their column because they played the Tombs. Clyde faces Universal next weekend I think which means Roy goes against Pops. If Clyde's proves me wrong and wins then they are indeed in a position to claim they should be mention in the same breath with the Tombs. Lets get it on. If Bowman hadn't put his name in the draft maybe he would be on the Tombs. But with that uncertainty its possible all the good spots were taken up. Of course I have no idea how it all works so I'm only speculating. Bowman has to suck it up and look at his situation as an opportunity. Lets go, BB!

I've seen games where Clyde's has had another GW player(Carl Elliot) play with them. They've also had Dewayne Anderson and Deron Washington. Lorenzo Miles showed up early in the second half of Clyde's game, they were already up by about 25 at that point. D.C.Jammers also has some good players in Sterling Ledbetter, James Gist, Gordon Klaiber(watch him, if you get a chance, he's number 6 on that team) , Noah Nichols, Mike Creppy, and Darryl Proctor.
The Kenner League seems to be returning to their old format of having 2 or 3 teams(that's not even including Tombs who are STACKED this year) who would have a chance of being ranked in the top 25, while the rest of the teams would appear to be have no chance of competing with them. There were a couple games yesterday in which teams that appeared to be stacked got soundly beaten by teams who, on paper, looked inferior.
One more thing, I believe number 5 on Tombs is Jordan Nichols, he went to Dematha and will be a freshman at American University next season. Also the BIG point guard is Chris Cole, he went to National Christian Academy and he'll be a freshman at Hartford next season. For those of you who can remember, C.Cole played with Tombs in 2002(I think) with PEII and another guy from National Christian Academy.

The GW guard that played with Roy's team was junior JR Pinnock. Some say he is the best NBA prospect on GW's team (better than Pops or Mike Hall). The knock on him has been his 3 point shot which he has improved significantly. He was the 6th man of the year in the A10 last year.
He and Roy had a nice two man game working on Saturday. JR was suprisingly unselfish for a KL game feeding Roy in the post on almost all the possessions. Roy dominated that game although the team they were playing may have been the worst I have seen in the KL in a while. The big white guy on Clydes from AU is a decent player too.

I'm surprised that people think of Bowman's apparent sulking as competitiveness. It seemed to me like he sort of zoned out during the game on Saturday, despite a few great plays -- the dunk past Ewing and the two blocks. He wasn't really hustling down the floor and didn't seem to get his mates involved. Substandard guys around you or not, you gotta pass out of the double team.
The fact that he didn't get up to shake hands was worrisome to me. He's a good player, but he wanted to go pro this year and he has a limited number of games left to display his skills. After all, you never know who is in the stands. If a pro scout was there on Saturday, he left shaking his head.
Contrast that to Jeff Green who hustled down the floor twice to block fast-breaks. Green is also constantly communicating with III via hand signals. Couple that with his great inside play, and Green seems poised for a breakout year above and beyond that of last year. Bowman's going to be fine, but he's got to take it up a notch if he wants to get drafted.
You never look bad hitting the open man even if he misses his shot, but you always look bad turning it over by trying to force your way through a Green, Wallace, Ewing triple team, IMO.

I agree its just a summer league game. And I'm one who doesn't think someone's play in a summer league game is necessarily a true indication of their abilities and development. But I can get an idea of someone's attitude...where his head is at so to speak. Bowman, in virtually every report on these sites, have been described as seeming disinterested at times, even in games in which he puts up big numbers. Now with my post and that of another guy we know of two separate instances where Brandon was sulking on a bench after a loss. I don't mind if he's upset with a defeat. True competitors tend to be. But sulking about it doesn't do a darn thing. He doesn't have a great summer team to work with. However that can be looked upon as an oportunity to display his all around game with scoring, rebounding, defense, passing. Making his team and his teammates better is what he should strive for and perhaps the wins would come more readily.
Hey, I think Bowman has looked awesome at times in games this summer. However someone above brought up a good point that Jeff always looks as if he is trying/giving an effort. Bowman doesn't display nearly that same urgency even though 1)he is on a far worse team (defeatism perhaps?) and 2)unlike Green Bowman only has one more season to prove himself to NBA scouts. My tough love advice to BB would be that this is no time to feel sorry for himself. He needs to keep his chin up and keep a proper perspective.

Saed played with Custom Uniform on Saturday. He didn't really play that much, his team smashed Symmonds All Stars(although Symmonds All Stars made somewhat of a comeback late in the game), it was one of the games I referred to as an inferior team(on paper) soundly beating a more talented team.
Some more things about Brandon and his Kenner League team, they did not have Donald Kirk in the game against Tombs. From what I've seen, B.Bowman seems to be friendly with D.Kirk when they are playing together. Maybe they know each other off the court or something. If any of you, watch Trophies and Awards in the future, D.Kirk is the little guard with braids who is a good 3-point shooter. Brandon's team lost by 2 points to D.C.Jammers last Friday. B.Bowman turned the ball over at the end of the game as time expired. He wasn't sulking after that game.
Also, I always see 2007 Hoya recruit Anthony Mclain at the Kenner League. Last weekend, he had on a black hat that had 'BIG ANT' written on the side. I saw him there one time with his D.C.Assault uniform on.
