Can someone provide me with a short list of recruits for '06? Obviously Macklin is on the list, but who else are we seriously pursuing (i.e. not every joker who has gotten a letter from GU and whose name is "listed" w/ the Hoyas on some recruiting website-- I mean guys we are actively going after)?
Thanks in advance.

SWEET LORD! MOTORBOAR JONES!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Leave it to aggy to breakout the ol' classics.
But seriously, our short list is Macklin, Ricky Roe, Neon Bodeaux, and Butch McCrae.

Aggy... who were those commercials for with Lamar Mundayne ? Reebok?
Also, does anyone know who the older fella is in that one Coke commercial where he posts up the young kid and then spins baseline and dunks, leaving the young kid with the old man's bag of groceries in his hands? I've watched it a million times and it sounds like someone in the background says "You know who that is? That's Desperate Rooftops, son." Help.

They had another one for a guy named "Showtime" ("And he IS the Show!!"), but I couldn't remember his name... I didn't think anyone would get the "Motorboat Jones" reference...I thought just me and my crazy brother remembered him... The older guy from the Coke commercial looks familiar, but I can't place his face...

Just found out... its 1985 Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year, Nigel Miguel. Played with Reggie at UCLA.
I PERSONALLY remember him as Dwight "The Flight" McGee in White Men Can't Jump.
Of COURSE I remember Motorboat and Kilroy, Aggy. Knowing those won me $400 once at a sports bar. The question was something like "Name an alias underwhich Michael Jordan played before his comeback with the Bulls." I knew BOTH, so they gave me double the $200 prize (guy running the thing was drunk beyond belief).

But seriously, our short list is Macklin, Ricky Roe, Neon Bodeaux, and Butch McCrae. I hear Butch's mom is a powerful piece of work...and someone is going to give Ricky's dad a tractor. Wow, my attempt at getting some information has been incredibly unsuccessful!

hoyalove... to be REALLY serious this time, having already wrapped up DaJuan and Rivers, we've only got one, MAYBE two, scholarship spots, depending on Wallace's status. One of those (by all accounts) has been offered to Rivers. I've also heard from a bunch of people we've offered to D.J. Augustin, a point guard from (if I remember correctly) the New Orleans area and Earl Clark, a big shooting guard from NJ.

Thanks for the substantive response, Buffalo.
I hope that none of our players are failing TV like Tony.

We have no shot at DJ Augustin or Earl Clark. I think Macklin might be the only big name left that we are seriously persuing and seriously have a chance at.

We pursued Augustin hard early on, but then it didnt seem like we were a front runner for him. Eventually, I believe he took us of of his list when he narrowed it down, and shortly after, Jeremiah Rivers committed, meaning there is almost no chance DJ comes here.
Earl Clark is very unlikely as well. He may end up at Nova, Rutgers, or Louisville, but I don't see Georgetown as being too likely.
We have an offer out to Duke Crews, but his list is really long right now so I dont think our chances at him are that high. H'es still a potential target though. We have an offer out to Devan Bawinkel, a combo guard who is very intelligent and seems to have been looking at GU for a while, but common sense suggests that once Rivers committed, Bawinkel would get the hint to look elsewhere.
I think those are the only big names who we still have a shot at... Obviously, Macklin is the prize, and thats where we're really focusing. If we can't land him, theres a chance that III signs a project big man from elsewhere, someone who is not a top 150 type player, maybe a prep school player or a JUCO player, or someone else under the radar. Otherwise he'll probably save the scholarship so as to have more flexibility in 2007 recruiting. Remember, Pat Ewing Jr. will be joining the squad that season too, in addition to Summers and Rivers, so thats already 3 significant additions.

Names that have floated for '06:
Bigs - Vernon, Phil Jones, Taj Gibson Short PF - Crews Wings - Devan Bawinkel, DeSean Butler
I don't think we're looking at any '06 small guards seriously.

I'd love to have Bullwinkle come to GU. I can hear the "Mooooooose" chants already.
