@yaboynyp So what’s your guesstimate of minutes, points, rebounds, assists, etc for both based on what you see? Hard to say without knowing what the roster looks like. Aminu has more polish, there's more certainty in his role, so you could see him around 15ppg, give or take a couple, and maybe 5rbds and 3assists. Jordan is harder to predict, but he has *potential to be low double figures, maybe a couple assists and rebounds. Similar to Mac's numbers as a Freshman but again a lot depends on the roster makeup. The reason why I harp on his shooting is because if he can be average in that area it should lead to more minutes since you're going to need shooters around Q and Aminu. There's nothing broke in his shot, it's just not consistent right now imo.

LJ Peak was a consistent 3 point shot away from being a BIG TIME player. LJ could absorb contact very well around the rim.
I think Jordan is more of a high flyer. I do love Riley’s intensity level & desire to be a force from day one.

Riley may be more of a high flyer than peak, but peak could slash to the whole like few can do. I haven’t seen enough of Jordan to know how frequently he takes it hard to the hole....but of that in his arsenal, then we are set.

Peak was one of the best we’ve ever had at driving to the rim so I’m not going to put Jordan up there but a major part of his game is attacking the basket and getting fouled.

I was a Peak fan from Day One, when most were more excited about Copeland. But lets be clear here...Peak's driving ability didn't really show itself until season three, his junior year. Before that he was far less consistent in terms of taking it to the rack. Each season he got better at it but it was only in that final year that it was a reliable weapon in his arsenal.
Let's also remember that what kept Peak from being a top twenty talent in Scott's eyes was that he was viewed as a forward more than a guard. People, including Hoya fans, had concerns regarding his handle and his ability to create. Also of concern was his outside shot. By his junior year he really made a leap in his handle and passing, but these were not skills he automatically displayed coming into GU. The only thing he did worse in his junior year was shooting from the three after making an amazing improvement during his sophomore year.
And while Peak was a great athlete and leaper he wasn't on the level of explosiveness of a Rodney Pryor. Riley looks to be more along the lines of Pryor on that front based upon what I have seen.
Of course I would be doing Peak a disservice if I did not point out that for at least his first two seasons (and possibly all three) he was not exactly playing in a system that could better highlight his capabilities as well as sharpen his finest tools.
Disappointingly, LJ was an average defender. Didn't or couldn't move his feet quick enough and certainly didn't even display that type of quick reaction and leaping capability on help defense to block an opponent's shot as we are seeing from Riley repeatedly in these clips. I don't care what the level of competition is, that is just ridiculous, so rare to see in a guard. When gurus or people from New York gush over Riley's potential it is because of what they see he may be capable of doing on both sides of the ball.

The biggest problem with his shot is if you watch him shoot 5 times you'll see 3 different shooting forms. That's why he can look really good for a stretch and then really bad for a stretch. Being consistent in his shot preparation, set-up, and release would go a long way to adding consistency in his perimeter game. This. If you look at the practice drill video (previous page in this thread), his 3-pt form is pretty consistent and he makes 12 of 14. On the other hand, his game highlight video shows him shooting 3s a la Blair, with his right foot ending in front of the left foot (although Blair does it to both sides). If he puts it all together, then he will be able to draw out his defender, open the post for Qudus & Co., and open driving lanes for Aminu and himself.

Watched most of this game.
It is tough to tell how he will fit next year because he is so far beyond the level of competition.
Tremendous upside. He is a couple of inches taller but he might have Iverson level athleticism. I’m not saying he’s Iverson or will play at that level. I’m saying he has athleticism that is off the chart.
By my count he was 1 for 5 from 3 in this game. Looks like the bench was playing the fourth quarter when I stopped watching.
As you can see in the highlights, he feasts in transition. Handle wasn’t bad but there were too many turnovers. He did well on several occasions through traffic.
Defensively, he jumps passing lanes for many steals. Even as Iverson won BEDPOY, he acknowledged he wasn’t a great defender-just good at jumping passing lanes. I couldn’t tell how good a defender Riley is. There was only one or two possessions when he was dialed in playing the type of defense we saw from Harris recently. If he committed to that, he could be amazing. I wonder if he will vs. diving for the steal hoping to run for a dunk. Mostly his defense was non-Chalance (sp?) waiting to use his athleticism differential to make a steal or block. In a way, that non-challance reminded me of watching Mac in high school. Clearly, a different player, but the attitude towards defense was comparable to me.
I bet the staff can’t wait to get their hands on him. If he’s coachable, the sky is literally the limit.
I hope he gets more opportunities to play at a higher level this year as I worry he can tune in and out of games at this level and develop bad habits. Jordan Riley giving 100% effort for 40 minutes should scare the heck out of every single Big East coach.

If Riley could learn to play defense like Dante Harris, what he could do to a player like Colin Gillespie would be so much fun to watch. They won’t overlap. I’m just saying the above average athlete with great fundamentals and solid output would be completely out-matched.

There is no one on our roster currently that can dunk as effortlessly as Riley. Kid is quick and smooth. Reminds me a little of Aaron Bowen with maybe a bit more offensive polish.

A little taller than Iverson? Jordan is listed as 6'4". As someone who played against AI in high school and at different venues across the Peninsula, I can tell you AI is 5'11" maybe 6'. We were close to eye to eye. AI has freakishly long arms and explosive leaping ability. Jordan reminds me of a combo of Bowen and Brilly athletically/physically.

Players can be coached up, but you can’t teach athleticism and dog.

Sounds like a glaring omission by his coach...but, no matter, we know that he's deserving...

That’s a weak move by the old man. For standing up for his son? Standing up for what? Does he feel in this current climate ripping on the coach is what’s needed? So the kid didn’t get nominated to go to an all star game. But I guess that’s the social media world for you.
