Avalanche of 24/7 predictions for Michigan. Disappointing. I think the COVID/school issues really changed the course of his recruitment.
Not to worry -- as long as Beard shows up next year, we'll have a pretty solid backcourt with him, Riley, and one of our other '21 guard prospects.

We do have Beard and Harris competing for PG minutes. Also, on a number of ‘22 guys.

OK, so Collins was a swing and a miss. Sure, it's a disappointment, but good luck to him at UM. Meanwhile, Coach is bringing in lots of talent. May just be my B&G glasses, but they all seem to have serious upsides. From his first three years, it appears coach is pretty darn good at identifying talent. It also seems he is now favoring certain personality types. Take no prisoners kinds of kids. Who just HAVE To win and can't stand to lose. Hopefully they'll all be team first kids too.
Could I be wrong? Would not be the first time. I just have a positive feeling about coach and program -- though not about WHEN the Hoyas will be back on the court.

COREY EVANS Pick Michigan... I am curious. On the 14th, the kid says he is going to announce his decision on the 19th. Immediately the specialist state the kid is going to that school. Is this an educated guess, did someone from the kids group spill the beans, did a person associated with that school talk, did someone follow him to the nearest "Lids" and see what cap he purchased. This is a special moment for the young man and it should be his. If someone talked, I would be warm. May even cause me to change my mind. Wishing the young man the best.

No disrespect, but if that made him change his mind than it was an already a very tenuous commitment.

Corey Evans is a very solid recruiting reporter. It’s very possible that Collins has been a Michigan lean for a while, and with Collins setting his commitment date with no new offers since Michigan, Evans might have decided he feels comfortable with his prediction. He wouldn’t make a prediction of Michigan now if Collins wanted to delay his decision to the Spring, even if he has been a Michigan lean lately, since a lot could happen between now and then. Another possibility that you didn’t cover is that Collins might have told Evans directly. Jordan Riley seemed to tell Brian Snow (another solid reporter) in advance so that Snow would have an article with direct quotes ready as soon as Riley made his commitment announcement.

Is the friend Michigan supposedly signed referring to Mutombo or someone else?

Very interesting. When they say "sign Mutombo's son" I assume that means close the deal with Ryan vs give him a firm offer to commit to? I couldn't imagine we are slow playing Ryan / not giving him a commitable offer right? It's too bad we couldnt have closed the deal with Ryan sooner (especially if he ends up commiting) if it could have swayed Frankie as well. Mutombo isn't considering Michigan right?

Thanks for the input, JYD...very interesting and disappointing that we had put so much effort into his recruitment, only to have UM swoop in late...but if we could land Ryan and Mohammed (or Robinson), I'd still be ecstatic...

Maybe the parent or parents of Frankie were telling JYD to tell Georgetown to sign Mutomobo or make sure you don't let Mutombo get away. Maybe that was what they were saying.
Also, a point should be made that the only reason why Michigan was chosen over Georgetown is because Frankie has a friend on Michigan's team. Perhaps Mutombo is Frankie's friend too and something needs to be said about how a friend can sway recruiting to schools.
Perhaps, Mutomobo was working on Frankie trying to sway him to come to Georgetown with him. Perhaps after Frankie told Mutombo that he wanted to come to Georgetown but that he was going to pick Michigan because of another close or closer friend who is on that team.
Perhaps the parent is trying to tell Georgetown do not let Ryan get away because maybe a lot of kids like Ryan, and Ryan can and will influence other kids such as Mohammed to come to Georgetown. Maybe that was the intent of the parent when he gave his feedback to Junkyard.

Just goes to show you can do everything right and still lose out on a recruit at the last minute because of uncontrollable circumstances. No hard feelings towards Collins. Wanting to play with a buddy is a totally legit reason to choose Michigan, assuming that they were close or equal to the Hoyas in all the other important stuff. Boy, coaches sure must have to have thick skins though. This kind of thing has to be extremely frustrating for them.

FWIW I believe this is Frankie's father responding to the JYD comment.
