No doubt the kid has a pure jump shot and looks to have great range on it. As mentioned, everyone needs shooters these days. The only thing I get little concerned about from some of the highlights is that he does not seem to be a really quick, explosive athlete. He gets to the rim in his high school games OK, but not sure if he has a another gear that would allow him to play a little faster and still be comfortable. I think he is a big time prospect, but in the back of my mind I am thinking he could be the next Reggie Cameron!! “quick, explosive athlete” is overrated. Give me a shooter with IQ and good attitude any day. Think about how much of our game we spend in transition vs half court. Think of all of the missed wide-open 3s. Plus, we shoot way less 3s than the top BE teams. Check this out: www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/conferences/statistics/team/_/id/4/stat/3-points/sort/threePointFieldGoalsAttemptedI do trust the staff on assessing these recruits, and if they fell he can be an effective player, I hope the program lands him. Clearly there are other big programs also that are confident he can play at a high level so that is a great sign. Sometimes you just see some of these highlights and it does not look like the recruit, or his competition, are playing at a fast pace and it makes you wonder. Don't get me wrong, I am on board with finding more shooters. Having a few knock down guys really helps spread the floor and keeps other teams from packing the paint. This would really help Mac find more driving lanes and keep teams from doubling Q next year. If the staff has identified Walton as the guy they really want, I hope he is wearing a Hoya uniform next year.

He has that "No One Is In The Building But Me" jump shot. The kid barely hits net, let alone rim, with the D in his face. That release is repeatable and ultra quick. No doubt the kid has a pure jump shot and looks to have great range on it. As mentioned, everyone needs shooters these days. The only thing I get little concerned about from some of the highlights is that he does not seem to be a really quick, explosive athlete. I think he is a big time prospect, but in the back of my mind I am thinking he could be the next Reggie Cameron!! His quickness or lack thereof I noticed also. But he appears to have the ability to create space off the dribble to get his shot off. But your concern is legit.

I’m just happy if we get someone who can consistently hit an open three. Kid had size, deep range and quick release. May be tough to land though.

As long as he can pumpfake his shot then quickness be damned.

I caught up with Kerwin Walton last week and, sorry to tell you, nothing has changed since the early signing period. He has completed all of his official visits but he is in no rush to make a decision. Walton even cited what Matthew Hurt, a former travel program teammate, did last year. Hurt waited out the college season, looked at what happened rosters around college rosters and assessed various systems and coaching types before committing. Walton will probably take a similar route. A final school list has not been formulated but a group consisting of Arizona, Cal, Creighton, Iowa State, Miami, Minnesota, North Carolina, Texas and Vanderbilt remain involved. Arizona garnered most of the talk in the fall and while the Wildcats can be considered one of the leaders, predicting his ultimate landing spot has become more and more difficult the further away that he has gotten from his visits. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/twitter-tuesday-ucla-khristian-lander-kerwin-walton-mike-brey

I get that the vibe is "we don't know yet", but it's still not great being left out of a list that includes half the schools in North America.

I would love add Walton, but I hope the staff is moving on. It doesn't seem like the interest is mutual. Let him drag this recruitment out with other programs while we close on Clark and Murray. Get guys who want to be a part of this program.

Get guys who want to be a part of this program. I would hate to wait too long on Walton and miss out on some the other guys that the staff seems to be working on (Clark/ Murray). It is impossible to get inside the head of these young recruits and know what they re really thinking, but it certainly sounds like Walton coming to the Hoyas at this point is a long shot. I am not disputing his talent but it might be time to move onto the next "best" recruit at the SG position and close that player if they can. At this point it looks like the staff is going to be waiting until after this college season is completed to look at a few grad transfers/JUCO kids anyways, so if Walton suddenly decides he loves Georgetown they can probably make the scholarships work anyways.

I thought someone close to his camp tweeted a while back that he isn’t seriously considering us.

I don’t think we have much of a shot here but losing him to Creighton would really stink as would seeing him team up in an Arizona backcourt with James.

He must feel there is some type of chance here...glad to see this...would be a great addition... Maybe I am wrong but this definitely gives me the feeling that Ewing views Clark as a 3 and not a 2....

Walton would be a great get. But Coach Ewing needs to pay Murray a home visit also. We need guys that can knock down shots from the outside. Walton will to tough to reel in.

So much for being at Paul VI/DeMatha. Feel like Patrick needs to pull an upset in one of these. My gut has told me we didn't stand much chance on Walton, and spending time pursuing him at the expense of more attainable local kids seems like a bad idea. But maybe they know something I don't.

Think it's probably because they have Marquette on Wednesday though, right? If they're smart they sent an assistant to the Paul IV game though I agree.

Right, I’m guessing like last year they are staying in Chicago between the two games.
