I think this schedule is a slap in the face by the conference. Why the hell should Marquette get to keep its stupid rivalry games against DePaul and (from way back) ND, and we get nothing. Is this the deal now? We're on the same level as St. John's?

After the TV execs basically picked the first set of mirror opponents (top 4/5 teams or so), the rest were determined by region and rivalries. We kept St. John's for the rivalry, but like it or not, somebody had to be stuck with USF. There's only four schools below the Mason-Dixon (more or less) and Louisville was already taken by tv. Hence the WVU and USF setup.

I suppose that is possible, especially given that ESPN did not pick up GU-SU at all last year, but I would think ESPN would be interested in that game at some level this time around. As one of the few people here to see that game and have it on tape all I have to say is the networks missed out on a great game up at the Cuse.

The Panthers' home-and-home games are against Marquette, Providence and West Virginia while they miss Syracuse in addition to Villanova. This demonstrates the mercurial nature of this scheduling process. Pitt was a big-shot team for the last 4 years; one of the league's premier home-and-homes was Pitt-Cuse. This year, the schedulers can't even find a way for them to play once. Meanwhile, WVU made a surprise run to the Elite Eight and scored some CBS games. If the Hoyas win this year and project to be a top-5-in-NBE team in '06-'07, CBS and ESPN will take GU games in a second.

Why? We were picked to finish 11th of 12 last year, and until our late season fade, were right in the mix for a bye. We certainly ranked as a surprise team. (in response to EdgeFactor).
