Actually it has stayed 10 times longer than normal compare level to other players who have left the program. Usually once a player has left it is immediately moved but these have stayed for weeks They left the program four days ago. This board was started four days ago. We have no basketball program. At least two and probably three of our seven players are leaving the program at the end of the season. We will have Mac, Pickett, Qudus and Blair (and two redshirts) and maybe Omer returning. That is the entire team. Probably 4 guys. No need to talk about what happened. Move on. They quit on the team and the program. Didn't care if it went up in flames.

Thanks for putting a bunch of words in my mouth that do not reflect my intent. As an aside, 9+ posts in 2 hours since moving to this forum is far from a dead discussion.

I put the reason in my post. "Time to move on folks." that was a post from you a few hours ago. Not putting words in your mouth.

Since the conversation is moving to how the University should have handled this, I am moving this thread to the 37th & O forum. This is the post I referenced in this thread. The post you quote is from a different thread that has not been moved.

A year from now I would love to see a story in the Wash Post about this whole incident. In my mind the incident pretty well encapsulates all that is happening in our society today. Look at the ingredients: - big time college athletics - an "elite" (read rich/white) college - black athletes - Title IX and the "Me Too" movement - Privacy Issues - Lawyers (enough said) - College administrators (ditto) - A 24 hour modern media (especially sports media) looking for hit-generating stories I'd add the internet + social media (the case complaint link that generated all the attention was originally referenced in a Casual Hoya thread), the perceived political orientation of faculty, and policing to the list. I get why Dan moved it out, because this incident or the multiple incidents here have basically become a culture war proxy.

The university should apologize to the players if they did not do anything, why didn’t they announce during this investigation that the players are on the team and the school will wait on the investigation before doing anything.by just not saying anything the social media dragged them through the negative press and Georgetown didn’t do a thing at least give a statement or Ewing should have said until proven otherwise theses players are here and we will wait and see how investigation plays out ,until they are not suspended or want be unless warranted after the investigation. I am dissatisfied with the whole way the university handled it.

We may never know all the facts, so can’t assume the university owes an apology. Private conversations take place to achieve positive outcomes.

I am not sure what happened, which players were involved and in what capacity. The only thing we know for certain is that this could not have been handled worse. We received the maximum possible negative press and hit to our reputation was achieved as a result of these incidents. Not to mention the maximum possible negative effect to the basketball team, all four of them gone and the loss of a key recruit. And then there is the maximum possible negative outcome on campus with restraining orders being thrown around and threats and conflict continuing, resulting in a letter from 68 professors demanding a change and saying they are "deeply disturbed". The job of our AD and school president is to rise to the challenge when there is a major blowup on campus. How could this have been handled worse? How could the outcomes have been worse? This will have a negative effect on our admissions, fundraising, faculty recruiting, not to mention basketball. Go ahead and say Hyperbole. Those who diminish this are wearing Blue and Grey colored glasses. This goes to the top. There needs to be a change. I think Reed and Degioia should go. We need a top notch AD and President, like all of the schools we compete with in academics and hoops. This was embarrassing. It could not have been handled worse. I invite anyone to defend how this was handled. Hyperbole.

Here's how New Mexico handled alleged player misconduct... www.abqjournal.com/1403561/lobo-starters-carlton-bragg-j-j-caldwell-suspended.html“Carlton Bragg and JJ Caldwell will not participate in today’s game versus Houston Baptist,” UNM released in an email prior to the game. “They are being withheld from competition and team activity until further notice. The athletic department has received information that requires further review. In the meantime, there will be no additional comments from anyone at UNM until that process is complete.”
