Do we know that they were dismissed? Or did they both decide to leave? It's not like the press release is very clear on that (or anything else).

I've read they've both entered the transfer portal. Does this mean they were dismissed and then decided to transfer? Or they just decided to transfer?
I'm sure we won't find out any time soon, but still curious

With LeBlanc missing game one, then not starting and the team's chemistry looking out of sorts, is it fair to say this wasn't an "incident" but maybe an accumulation of incidents?

No argument that this is a disaster for the program and season, but why are we giving the 2 players a pass for this? Ewing should have handled this, but walking away in the middle of a season should at least make us question them as much as we justifiably question Ewing. Let’s get through this season and reset to square one. New coach, clean break from Thompsons. Rebrand the whole damn thing. Very few people outside this board care at this point. Of course, we will probably end up with Ronny Thompson as head coach. And then it will all be over. |

We all saw something was up with LeBlanc, and there were rumors about Akinjo wanting to return west before the end of last season. It is very premature to lay this on the back of Patrick Ewing, or any other coach or player. I'll reserve further thought and comment until the passage of another day or two brings a little more information and clarity.
That being said (or written), this is certainly a kick to the groin.

Will not speculate on the reason, whether the players left before or whether they were kicked off the team.
The bottom line is it's impossible for Ewing to turn this into a positive and keep the program on its trajectory. It feels like we wasted three years. That feels dramatic but this is that level of a blow to the program
