The 2019 season: gone too soon. "The defensive-minded Hoyas, who made great strides last year when they recorded their best record since 2012 — posting one of the most remarkable turnarounds in the country by finishing 5-6 overall following a dismal 1-10 season in 2017 — are much better than their 1-4 conference record might indicate. In fact, they’ve played everybody in the conference exceedingly tough this year. Georgetown, the only school in the conference that doesn’t offer football scholarships yet led the Patriot League with 34 sacks and 20 interceptions last season while finishing second in scoring, rushing and total defense, defeated Lafayette earlier this season and lost three league games by three points each, falling to Fordham 30-27 in the final seconds in the league opener, dropping a 27-24 heartbreaker at Lehigh when the Mountain Hawks’ Austin Henning split the uprights with a game-winning 27-yard field goal as time expired, and losing 20-17 at Bucknell after squandering a 17-6 fourth-quarter lead. Each of those losses stung — and stung badly... The fact of the matter is that Georgetown, having endured one narrow loss after another and still looking for a signature conference victory after winning four of their first five games this season, could very well be sitting atop the Patriot League at 4-1 and on the cusp of making its first FCS playoff appearance in history. Instead, they’re in last place." thefanatic.com/college/football/2019/11/lowly-lafayette-looks-for-a-little-help-in-unlikely-playoff-quest/

I understand this theme that Hoyas have been more competitive this year than in any prior year (except last year). for the 1st time, we played everyone tough this season in PL - last year we did not play Colgate tough(the undefeated champs). however, last season we beat everyone else in PL except HC (whom we essentially gave the game to after being up 31-5, helped by yielding an unthinkable 2 consecutive blocked punts in Q4 both retuned for TD's). this season seems like a step back. we are going to win one game in league play and finish in a tie for last. the losses by 3 points in closing seconds to 3 teams where we were winning in all 3 games at some point are devastating losses - no doubt for this seasons team. the pattern this year has been to turn the ball over on offense (in maddening ways) and to yield late scores / big plays on defense late in the game. that's a formula for losing even if your team dominates for stretches in a game. the HC game last season and the 3 PL losses plus the Davidson loss - were all bad losses. 5 bad losses over 2 years are tough for any program. this team was incapable of putting away lesser teams when they had the chance. for whatever reasons and that's just a fact

I thought GU played pretty hard yesterday...much more of a fight than I expected.
Game really changed (as some do) on only a couple of plays imo...GU stuffed on 4th and 1, long pass by HC, pick 6.
You guys are really in the mix in the PL (such as it is) moving forward imo...
