None of us want to be going through what we are going through. It will be an interesting time, however, to observe the program.
No one needs a leader in good times. As a simplistic example, you probably don't need a leader to guide you home from your neighborhood supermarket. Leaders are needed in uncertain times...when people are confused about the way forward. If you read some of the threads, there is little consensus about what to do. Many people want to shorten the bench and play only 8 people. After Yurt, Josh, and James, I don't think there is any consensus who should fill out the next 5 players of the 8. How we proceed is very uncertain.
This is going to be the perfect time to watch Patrick's leadership. It is also going to be the perfect time to observe the leadership on the team. Who is going to step up and show a way forward and be a great example? Who is going to get wrapped around the axle and get left behind?
Now is the time when great leadership is needed in the Hoya men's basketball program. And we are going to have front row seats.

I am being serious here. What is there to trust? His entire head coaching resume is the 2 years and 2 games he has coached Georgetown. Those 2 years resulted in the 2 worst defensive teams in Georgetown history---which is maybe not Govan's fault after all. Can the alumni and fan base separate their opinions on Patrick the player (unassailable) from Patrick the coach (unknown)? This was always going to be an experiment. As I indicated in other threads, the key will be whether Patrick is willing to make changes from what is not working (starting lineup, rotations, minutes, man defense, half court offensive scheme) and start looking at what the results and analytics are telling him. All of the stuff about playing harder and smarter and leaders stepping up is malarkey at this point. There are enough TANGIBLE problems with this team to think that fixing intangibles is the answer.

Exactly. The first two years PE was dealing with JT3 talent and philosophy. This is the first year his recruiting and coaching will be on display. It is perfectly fair to start evaluating PE as coach this year. Like most if us I didn't expect a final four team this year but I definitely expected better than what I've seen so far this year. But the jury is out. Check back in a month or two.
