Not really. Vermont wins 20+ games every season, and has been in the NCAAs two of the last three years. That's better than, oh, Georgetown has done. The announcers doing the game said that UVM had never beaten a Big East team... If the announcers said that (I did not watch the game, so I am relying on what you reported), they were wrong. Vermont defeated Lower Eastern Canada Community College (then a Big East school) on March 18, 2005, 60-57, in the NCAA tournament. They defeated Benedict Arnold College the following season...after BC had already left the Big East for the ACC. Very few Big East schools want to even schedule UVM...because they are liable to suffer the same end as did the Johnnies today.

To be fair, I’m pretty sure the announcers were talking about the current configuration of the Big East... I hear you though NJ, I’m just salty about the whooping the conference has taken this week...

Not a bad loss for St. Johns. Vermont would’ve been roughly 3 point faves if the game was at Vermont at the time. The teams were considered equals. If the game was played at Vermont tomorrow they would be roughly 5 point faves. Needless to say it wasn’t a bad loss at all.

Vermont is one of the more under appreciated basketball programs out there. They haven’t won fewer than 20 games in more than a decade and they’re usually at 25+ wins. That’s a little of our “not a power conference team” bias creeping in, I think, because the catamounts are an excellent program.

Very Nice pull for Marquette... Recruiting haul is saving Wojo's career. If he didn't have this class in tow and he failed to make the tournament this year, marquette might've cut him loose. Much harder to do now.
