Now that the pre-season Associated Press Top 25 has been released, I am posting the first Games of Interest thread for the 2019-2020 college basketball season. As before, each week’s Games of Interest will be posted sometime on each Monday; the next posting will be on Monday, November 11. Each post will contain the schedules for Big East Conference teams, for Georgetown’s out-of-conference opponents, and for the most recent AP Top 25, for the period Monday through the following Monday.
There are three Big East Conference teams in the first Associated Press Top 25: Villanova debuts at #10, Seton Hall at #12, and Xavier at #19. Three other Big East schools (Marquette, Creighton and Providence) received votes in the first poll. Based upon that, it appears that the Hoyas are not viewed above seventh place in the conference (at least at the inception of the season) by the AP voters. Michigan State is the pre-season #1 for the first time in Sparty history, followed in order by Kentucky, Kansas and Duke.
EDIT: There are FOUR other Big East Conference teams earning votes in the pre-season Associated Press Top 25, not three as I wrote yesterday. The one I omitted, of course accidentally...was Georgetown. The Hoyas earned more pre-season votes, for those who care, than did Creighton and Providence. So we are viewed as #5 in the conference, not #7. Mea culpa. But you guys are slipping as badly as did I for not calling this to my attention. So it's your fault, not mine.
SECOND EDIT: I'll include game results on a sporadic basis.
All times listed are Eastern Standard Time.
