Jakhi Howard A 6-foot-6 swingman out of Florida, it would not surprise me if Howard will be included in our initial 2024 ranking list when it is released later on in the year. Howard is a long and athletic perimeter prospect who plays hards in spurts and is productive on both ends when doing so. He has the intangibles to be effective on the glass, defending, or as a scoring option on the floor at the next level. He may not be ready to consistently dominate on the offensive end right now but there are long-term tools suited for the high major level with his size, length, versatility, and shooting mechanics. Recruitment: Howard already holds offers from the likes of Auburn, Florida, Georgetown, LSU, Rutgers, and Ole Miss. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/Triple-Threat-Alert-2024-Basketball-Recruiting-Jahki-Howard-Tre-Johnson-Dasean-Brodie-162934005/Recruitment: Howard already has offers from Auburn, Florida, Georgetown, Georgia Tech, Illinois, LSU, Ole Miss, and Rutgers. Why coaches will watch: It will not take long for high major coaches to realize that Jahki Howard has all the tools in place to have a very bright future in the game. He is a lengthy athletic wing whose level of activity on the defensive end and highlight dunks in transition are beyond exciting to watch. Already with eight high major offers at his disposal, I can expect that list to crack double digits by the end of next week. 247sports.com/college/basketball/recruiting/Article/GBCA-Live-Period-Kanaan-Carlyle-Ernest-Udeh-Barry-Dunning-Isaiah-Collier-Jahki-Howard-166693586/WHERE HE’S FROM: An Atlanta-area prospect, Howard played last season at suburban Norcross High School, where he was part of a loaded roster. He’s been linked to Kanye West’s new prep school Donda Academy, however, and could play next season at the California-based institution. WHO HE IS: Howard is all upside, as he boasts the length, athleticism and scoring ability to be great. The 6-foot-6 wing has some room to grow as a defender and a distance shooter but he already has a knack for getting to his spots and finishing at the rack with either hand. At last month’s DT Academy event, he showed the ability to facilitate for teammates as well as create off the bounce. Howard has a top-five ceiling if he becomes more consistent as a shooter and defender. EARLY OFFERS: Howard has a host of early offers from high-major programs, but Georgia, Georgia Tech, Texas and Auburn seem most involved at this juncture. That, of course, is subject to change as his recruitment evolves. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/i-ve-got-five-on-it-class-of-2024-prospects-that-may-be-ranked

I'd prefer to shy away from anyone attending Donda Academy.

A stellar point guard in the 2024 class is receiving offers and interest from a range of big-time college teams, including Syracuse basketball, according to a recruiting service. Curtis Givens III, a 6-foot-2 point guard, is a sophomore who attends the Memphis University School, a prep school located in Memphis, Tenn. Some of the primary recruiting services haven’t come out with national rankings for the 2024 cycle, but based on his early offer sheet, Givens can flat-out play. According to his bio on recruiting Web sites, Givens has scholarship offers from high-major programs including Memphis, Maryland, Georgetown, Illinois, St. John’s and Florida. According to Givens’ bio on the 247Sports Web site, among those squads displaying interest in him are the Orange, Kansas, Houston, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State and Vanderbilt. insidetheloudhouse.com/2021/10/08/syracuse-basketball-showing-interest-elite-sophomore-point-guard/

Orange coaches are getting into a groove with their recruiting efforts in the 2024 cycle. In August, the ‘Cuse made its first offer within this class, to Donnie Freeman from the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Freeman is a 6-foot-9 wing in his sophomore year at St. John’s College High School in the District of Columbia. Syracuse basketball coaches offered him in August at the team’s annual Elite Camp. When ESPN recently updated its national ratings for the 2024 cycle, Freeman checked in as four stars and No. 20 overall. He has a handful of other offers, including from Maryland, Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Xavier and George Mason. insidetheloudhouse.com/2021/10/08/syracuse-basketball-showing-interest-elite-sophomore-point-guard/

Additionally, the ‘Cuse is showing interest in 2024 five-star power forward Derik Queen from Baltimore. The 6-foot-8 Queen is a top-five overall player in this recruiting class, according to ESPN. He is a sophomore at the powerhouse Montverde Academy in Montverde, Fla., which is one of the best prep-school teams nationwide and should enter the 2021-22 stanza as the pre-season No. 1 group across the country. As we noted in a column not too long ago, Queen detailed his recruitment in a recent interview with Pro Insight. He did mention that he is garnering interest from Syracuse basketball, along with Florida State and Pittsburgh. His offers include from Indiana, Auburn, DePaul, Maryland, Texas, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, LSU and Arizona State. insidetheloudhouse.com/2021/10/08/syracuse-basketball-showing-interest-elite-sophomore-point-guard/

Langston Boyd is a productive basketball player. That is the attribute you notice first. Boyd's productive play during the ABC Fall League earned him Most Outstanding honors after the 6-foot-3 wing led his team to the finals. “I am able to get to the basket and get my teammates involved," Boyd said. "I am a slasher, a facilitator. I can shoot (from) mid range, and the 3-ball at times,” Boyd said. The 2024 wing from Concord (N.C.) Academy has seen his recruitment pick up after a strong summer with the Atlanta Celtics (Ga.) 3SSB program. “I have offers from Wake Forest, Purdue, Mississippi and Texas A&M," Boyd said. "I would say I hear from Wake Forest the most." “I would say Georgetown, Clemson and Cincinnati are all schools that are recruiting me hard, talking to me, seeing me play. But they haven’t offered yet,” Boyd said. “I am looking for a coach that just lets me go. I can facilitate for my teammates, but I know I can score at will, too. I would say those are the two best parts of my game, and I want to go somewhere they will let me be me.” basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/class-of-2024-wing-langston-boyd-produces-stats-offers

He’s already so big and strong, but he’s also a very skilled all-around player. He can play both around the basket and be physically imposing, and he’s also comfortable playing on the perimeter. He’s without question one of the top prospects in the country. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/rivals-roundtable-discussing-the-initial-2024-rankings

Tucker checks in at No. 3 in the rankings, but he was discussed at length for the top spot and will continue to be in the future. Our Jamie Shaw is as big a Tucker proponent as there is, and it’s easy to see why. Tucker stands 6-foot-6 as a sophomore and brings a high basketball IQ along with Division I bloodlines to the table. A gifted passer in addition to being a scorer, Tucker impacts games in multiple ways. He possesses the tools to seize the No. 1 spot and will have every opportunity to do so in the years ahead. EARLY RECRUITMENT: Tucker’s father played for NC State and George Mason, which seems like an important fact to know when you consider George Mason has already offered. That said, this recruitment will be crowded. While not impossible, it’s difficult to imagine the Patriots standing toe-to-toe with some of the heavy hitters that will be in pursuit. Georgetown, Maryland, LSU and Illinois are among those already in the mix. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/new-rankings-release-initial-2024-rankings-revealed

WHY HE NEARLY MADE THE LIST: Harper is intriguing to say the least. When he’s good, he’s great but the 6-foot-3 wing is also prone to off days. He was discussed for a slot at the back end of the top 40 but was ultimately held out, as we’d like the sample size on his game to grow before we slot him. The son of former and NBA standout Ron Harper and younger brother of Rutgers star Ron Harper Jr., Dylan Harper is a lefty with a high basketball IQ and an attack-the-rim mentality. He’ll likely see his name when the rankings begin to expand. EARLY RECRUITMENT: Rutgers has already offered as is expected to be heavily involved due to the job the program did developing his older brother into a All-Big Ten selection and NBA hopeful. Georgetown, Tulane and Georgia Tech have also offered. basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/i-ve-got-five-on-it-five-2024-prospects-that-just-missed-the-top-40
