Can’t figure out how to copy the links on my phone, but multiple reporters including Dana O’Neill are reporting that UConn will be announced as the 11th member of the Big East this week. Here we go...

Makes a ton of sense. The entire state of Connecticut roots for the Huskies. It's a Big Ten style school (and I don't mean Rutgers or Maryland!) in that regard. Great all around if it happens.

It will add to the national reputation and the basketball strength of the conference, and give us 2 more strong games on the schedule. A win all around.

So are we going to play 20 conference games now? Yup, round-robin format would stay in place...

www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/27030819/sources-uconn-expected-rejoin-big-eastExcerptsUConn is expected to leave the American Athletic Conference and return to the Big East for basketball and other sports in 2020, sources told ESPN. Nothing is official at this point, but an announcement could come as early as next week, sources said. The UConn Board of Trustees has not yet voted on the move, but approval is expected.
The biggest remaining question surrounds what happens with UConn's football team. The Big East does not have football, and it's unlikely it would remain in the AAC with just football, sources told ESPN. Sources said the football program is expected to play in the AAC this coming season, but could go independent after that or join a different conference. This is EXCELLENT news for the Conference!

There had better be some kind of poison pill to prevent them from seeking all-sports affiliation in a Power 5 conference, or we'll be reliving the demise of the original Big East Conference if/when the ACC comes calling.

If they could have had a power 5 invite they’d have taken it by now. I read this as UCONN recognizing that the invite ain’t coming. In any event if UConn were to leave we’d just be back to 10 teams which has worked just fine.

The ACC has had a chance to do this forever and UConn is sick of waiting. And in a few years the ACC might be no more attracted to UConn football than it is to Villanova football. In other words...UConn football keeps getting worse.

Now let’s get Gonzaga.
I’m sure Mark Few will be amenable to visiting DC now.

I have to assume whatever contract is signed with UConn will be pretty iron-clad that they can't bolt for another big football conference. The Big East lawyers kept all the other vultures away from MSG. My assumption is that they know what they're doing.

Fantastic news for the Big East in all sports! I am glad Uconn could see their football team was going nowhere and would not result in a Power 5 conference invite. I look forward to playing UConn again and this will no doubt raise the level of interest in the basketball conference and BET.
ACC and B1G are playing 20 games this season, so the trend to 20 was already set, more important, 2 more quality games for the Hoyas.
