I mean I agree, but the issue with the Big East is that Washington DC is the warmest weather city in the conference. It's not like we could have played it any where else where it would've been warm. Heck it was in the 30s here in DC last night. Well, it would not have been in DC, but a homer for Xavier. Tis not weather alone. Hometown fans whose team has not been there forever would turn out, as would Hoya fans. But if I am a Creighton fan with no team there YouTube would be looking real good, even tho' the game is right down the street. John Fanta and co-announcer are not exactly California boys, but were complaining about a miserable wind chill factor and wanting the team bench heaters up in the press box. Anyhow, just seems like a bad call. At least the men do not have to put up with it. Seems like a question that the Georgetown Voice beat writer could ask Dave. Honestly, I think it could have less to do with concerns about Georgetown dominance and more with just plain logistics and cost concerns. Having centralized sites that are known in advance allows the league to reserve hotel blocks en masse (not sure about plane travel, but I'd imagine that there could be some flexible package options with specific carriers that result in price savings). Doing travel for an entire team on just a few days notice can be expensive, and especially in non-revenue sports, not a trivial concern.

Hoyas caught flat-footed on a counter attack, down 1-0. Looking a little out of sorts.

Xavier score again on a failed Hoyas clearance, Hoyas will have to ramp it up if they want to get back in the game.

2 tough transition goals allowed so far. Xavier outhustling the Hoyas D so far.
As an aside, Fanta and his counterpart could shut up periodically and let the game breathe. The endless word salad is a bit much.

Final score: Xavier wins it 2-0. Xavier took a well-deserved 2-0 lead into halftime and while the Hoyas dominated the second half, they could not seriously dent a stout, bunkered in Xavier defense.

Xavier tripled teamed (PHYSICALLY) Germino-Watnick seemingly starting when she got off the bus. The Hoyas seemingly had no answer and once they had their 2 goals off counter strikes they choked off the Hoyas’ passing game. Tough loss, but well done by Xavier.
Now at the mercy of the NCAA selection committee. They should be in, but stranger things have happened.

Stranger things have indeed happened but they should be fairly safe. RPI in low to mid 30s. There were no obvious bid stealers in other conferences.
And while we didn't really have a top notch win, we had no bad losses or ties and a couple good ties. Certainly won't be seeded or anything but really should be fine. Even conceivable we get a first round home game.

I would think that the two recent College Cup appearances would help from a reputational standpoint.

Hoyas in against WVU in the first round. If they advance probable draw is Rutgers and if they survive that it will be UVa. Games at the higher seed, so we will be road warriors for second round and beyond unless there are upsets to seeded teams.

I admit it, I was worried we might get left out. I thought we /should/ end up about where we did, getting an opening home game and not facing one of the top seeds in the second round. But selection committees scare me, and after what happened a few years ago, I wasn't counting on anything.

One game at a time, but the door just opened a bit wider yesterday as Central Connecticut State beat Rutgers 1-0, which means if we do this one game with WVU well, we stay at the confines of Shaw for another.
A side note, Stanfurd beat Prairie View 15-0. Yes, 15-0. Three players had hat tricks and Macario has 4 goals and 5 assists for 13 points. Thirteen points in one game. A dream for most in a season. For her all in one game. Scary good.

2-0 defeat. Both WVU goals in the first half, which I missed. Hoyas forced a few excellent saves in the final 15 minutes. Oh well.
Not quite the postseason hardware we've had in the past, but still another strong season for the program.
