The Legacy setter is decommitted at this point. Not sure where she landed. It didn't seem she set much this year for her team this club season. Played mostly defensive specialist with a taller setter on her club taking the main setting duties. Looking forward to seeing who Rens is bringing in this year and that should be clear very soon.

Local kid Nalani Lyde has decommitted (if she had actually ever committed in the first place) and is now off to UNC-Charlotte. Press release says Lyde's mother played for Weatherington at Duke.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte volleyball Head Coach Karen Weatherington has announced the addition of Nalani Lyde, who will join the 49ers in the fall of 2019.

Thanks! I received the list from one of the recruits; she's the daughter of a family friend of mine. The 2019 class is looking like a force to be reckoned with.

Started following the team a few years back. I do think this class has great potential to make a run in the Big East even with all the young players. Saw Peyton Wilhite play over the weekend for her Coast club team. She may be the thing this team hasn't had in a while -- a strong right side or outside hitter with height! Love the looks of this team on paper -- tall setter, tall middles and a tall libero/DS too -- now let's put it on the court and surprise a lot of teams this year.

When I see a class like that with both the numbers and 3 front row players plus a setter who normally require scholarships to come - I wonder if the team has been given a full allotment of 13 scholarships or if they are still operating on a reduced number of ships and some of these young ladies in positions that usually get ships are coming in as walk ons?

I'd guess both (but the number is 12). I've heard at least five of those kids had full-ride offers elsewhere. If Rens manages to get this team to a Big East final, or into the NCAA tournament, players and parents will be lining up to be on campus for that education. Don't think the team is funded fully yet. But it's long past time the administration backs volleyball at a higher level. There is potential now for this team to fill the gym and create a nice vibe for itself on campus. Hoping a schedule is announced soon. Did see that Villanova released its schedule and it had games against Georgetown on Nov. 1 in DC and 3 in Philly.

You are right. 12 - chalk it up to old age and the fact I coach basketball. I always figured part of transitioning to a new coach was going to be fully or at least more fully funding the program. This tells me there is more money in it than with Arlysa. Glad to see it. As you said, it should be a really good pitch to play VB in downtown DC with that kind of education.

Has anyone seen Serrett in action? I'm eager to see which freshmen (if any) start in the front row. Just saw highlights on Wilhite and Boland. Boland can hit a ball like it's nobody's business, and her profile says that she has only been playing since sophomore year. Great size, speed, and power.

And now UConn joins the Big East lineup. Should be interesting and I believe UConn will step right in to the upper tier teams, though their recruiting class for 2019 looks a little weak. Having an interim coach probably didn't help their recruiting. Last season, UConn beat DePaul, Rutgers and South Florida, but lost to St. John's and Central Florida.

Coaching staff is set again, according to the team roster page. No press release has been issued yet. Looks like good additions to the staff with David Heller, a former head coach and assistant coach for men and women, and Mere Serea, a former UMES middle blocker. Let's hope they settle in quickly and the coaches and players gel. Nemanja Rozgic is the lone returning assistant.
