I vote that Othella submits to live height measurements to be streamed for the purposes of this board.

Would love to see an in-depth piece like this on Gtown... In a recent on-line Q&A with one of the Athletic college hoops writers, the writer said that he was working on one of these pieces on the Hoyas. so we should expect one relatively soon

I vote that Othella submits to live height measurements to be streamed for the purposes of this board. I hope this isn’t news for anyone on the board. Listed heights on rosters are only slightly more reliable than presidential tweets.

An 8th seed (6-12, NIT) would crush the fan base. Not buying it.

So the team that finishes tied for #3 falls to #8 despite bringing back 4 of 5 starters and bringing in a big whom they think should seamlessly step in for Govan. Makes sense. Not. The world ain't ready.

I agree that #8 is probably low, but the writer does provide some interesting commentary. I didn’t realize James took so many mid-range jumpers and made so few of them. Also interesting that he expects Omer to take a lot of threes. The Hoyas haven’t proven anything yet. Nothing will be given to them.

A few of the BE teams ahead of them didn't prove anything last season but we're given the benefit of the doubt anyway. Marquette on the other hand ended the season badly, got their butts kicked in the first round of the NCAA tourney, lost two of their three top players, but somehow remains highly regarded. Whatever.

Not buying it. We are going to be good this year. When we suck, I say so.

Funny that the author totally hedges on the entire prediction of 8th place by adding this in the final line: "I fear we have the Hoyas vastly underrated slotted in the lower half of our Big East standing projections."

If they really feared undervaluing the Hoyas and making a laughing stock of their predictions, they wouldn’t have picked them to finish #8.

Funny that the author totally hedges on the entire prediction of 8th place by adding this in the final line: " I fear we have the Hoyas vastly underrated slotted in the lower half of our Big East standing projections."To me his statement of " If Georgetown can lock in defensively, the Hoyas could shatter these tepid preseason expectations." explains why he made the hedge at the end... I agree with the writer wholeheartedly, if Gtown can defend consistently well this season they'll easily finish in the top half of the conference & make the tourney... If they don't they'll be balancing on the bubble once again... P.S. - Folks should also take into account the asterisk the writer put in the article as well, that also helps to explain his thinking... He clearly thinks all the tier 2 teams are more than capable of having a good season if things go well... *Teams in Tier 2 are effectively interchangeable, specifically 2-6. I see anyone of these squads vying for second place and all have the chops to potentially challenge Nova for the top spot. For context, all of the teams ranked 2-8 are currently within 2-3 points of each other in my preseason power ratings - if Creighton played Georgetown on a neutral, I’d likely have Creighton favored by 2.5 points.

Don't have time to get into all the details yet but I arrived home to find my ordered copy of the Lindy's Sports preview waiting for me.
Here are some quick details.
Georgetown is predicted to finish #6 in the Big East.
The order goes 1-Villanova 2-Seton Hall 3-Xavier 4-Marquette 5-Creighton 6-Gtown 7-Providence 8-Butler 9-St. John's 10-DePaul
The Hoyas are pre-season ranked #40 in the nation and are expected to make it to the NCAA tourney and end up as a one and done in tourney play. Seven BE teams are predicted to make the Big Dance.
