With the new rules, he could still come back right? I’m not exactly sure how it works now.

Ponds might be gone for sure, but your statement about agents is outdated based on the new rules. That’s why I was asking if anyone knew the new rules well enough to explain them. “If Nwora isn't drafted, he can return to Louisville so long as he notifies the university by the Monday after the draft. According to new NCAA rules effective this year, Nwora can hire an agent if he requests an evaluation from the NBA Undergraduate Advisory Committee. He will still be eligible to play in college if he makes a written agreement with the agent and then terminates it when he returns to school.”

No surprise. Next up: what do Figueroa and Heron do? No surprise at all with Ponds. I thought he might leave last year and I am not sure coming back for this last season has helped his draft stock. Sometimes the more these guys play the most they are dissected by scouts. I guess we will see. The real big questions in the Big East is what is going to happen with Howard and Powell. I expect both of them to test the NBA waters and then decide. They both had great years this season and I am not sure if coming back will help them in any way because they don't have much to prove playing against college/Big East competition. Both Marquette and Seton Hall will be favorites in the Big East next year if those two guys return, but if they go, both programs will struggle to replace that type of scoring.

If he’s gone, I’m going to say that’s 2 Ws, plus 2 more with Struss and Cain gone. We need 6 more.

True, neither guy has anything more to prove in college, but neither is highly thought of by NBA scouts. Perhaps they both want to start earning cash in Europe or the G league, but I would advise both to go back and get their degree and then start earning money abroad. Powell has no future in the NBA unless he shows he can be a point guard, which he is not. He said he was coming back and I see no reason to doubt him. Howard's build and height are a major issues. As much as the league values shooting, you need to be able to get your shot off and defend. It is obviously good for the league if both return.

RANKINGS OF '19 RECRUITING CLASSES - FOR WHAT ITS WORTH...….NOVA(3), Xavier (20), DePaul (26), Harvard (29), GU (44). THOSE RANKINGS DONT FACTOR IN OUR 2 TRANSFERS YURT7 AND ALEXANDER, WHO ARE HIGHLY RANKED. ON PAPER - WE ARE IMPROVING AND,MAYBE, GAINING ON OUR PEERS. BE CONFERENCE - OVERALL NOT SO MUCH- ON IMPROVEMENT. WE SHOULD BE CHALLENGING FOR TOP OF CONFERENCE NEXT YEAR. IF NOT, WE ARE UNDERPERFORMING.

I don't disagree with you about the chances of either of Howard or Powell getting drafted or playing in the NBA next year. I think it is a stretch to think either of them will make money playing in the NBA next year. Both can most likely make some money in the G league if that is what they want. I would have said the same thing about Marcus D last year for the Hoyas. I guess it depends on the advise they get from their "advisers" and how much they listen to that advise. They both should at least test the waters to get NBA feedback and then I guess they will both make a decision. If these guys want to pursue a career playing basketball they might just decide that they want to get started sooner rather than later. Whatever each guy decides will have a big impact on the league for next year.

Whatever each guy decides will have a big impact on the league for next year. Neither Powell or Howard is ever going to be a star player again. It may be attractive to them to come back for their senior year, score 25+ a game and be the centerpiece of a good team. I could see some players valuing this experience more than whatever they could make playing in Europe/the D League. But plenty of guys would make the decision to go pro, as Derrickson did. And while Derrickson would have been quite good as a Georgetown senior, he would not have been the centerpiece of a team the way Howard/Powell will be if they return to college.

This would be a horrible loss for Mullin. Abdelmassih was the main recruiter, he seems to be the one that got Heron, Figueroa and all transfers. He has been one of the most consistent transfer recruiters throughout his time. Would be a huge loss for St. John's. If he was the main recruiter of high school prospects also, they've lost a massive piece. Might end up being a final straw to Mullin's coaching career.

More Big East coaching turnover may be coming. Willard would be a huge downgrade for tech. That’s the problem with being a Stepping Stone School. You can never keep your coach cause any success and they bolt for greener pastures.

Can’t blame a guy for jumping off the Mullin ship to work with a dude that just signed a 7-year contract. Very smart move career stability-wise.
