This is a step forward. Do not begrudge small new beginnings. Everyone did not make the NIT field. We beat four of the teams in the NCAA field.

I recall several years ago when we had beaten two of the final four teams and took one of the others to overtime yet lost early in the tourney to I believe Ohio?

Lets hope PE "lets loose the dogs". Play the hell out of Mackinjo and Leblanc. I'd love to be at McDonough when Macinjo score 50+, Akinjo has 10+ assists and LeBlanc gets 20 rebounds. THE PLACE WILL EXPLODE LIKE IT HASN'T IN 40 YEARS.

We beat both final teams that year.....Butler and Duke.....that's the year AFree got sick and the season fell apart....

As I tell my wife, Georgetown won the “Super-championship” that year by beating both finalists including clobbering Duke in front of Obama. Indeed, beating a few teams in the field is not in and of itself an accomplishment—but it is further evidence of the marked year over year improvement. Considering the young returning core plus Yurt—expectations for next year’s side will be (deservedly) higher.

This season is like my golf game; every other shot is good, which means every other shot is bad. The last SHU game was bad let's make the Harvard game a good one. Also, I am a once in 10 years golfer; the Hoyas must get out of the one in four years tournament team.

Ironically enough we could face two coaches in Amaker in Keatts who were in the running in '17 when we took Ewing...

Yes Keatts was hired before our job opened up but his name was thrown out as a possible candidate when it seemed JTIII’s days were numbered.
Was Amaker a serious candidate? I don’t know if any of us truly know. If I had to guess, Amaker might have been our second choice but it feels like anyone but Ewing was probably a distant second choice given the circumstances.

Yes - I’ve wondered how serious they were on Amaker too. Or if it’s just a name that was thrown out there.

Was hoping DePaul made the NIT so all 10 BIG EAST teams made the post season. Butler made it as a 5 seed with a .500 overall record (16-16). DePaul left out with a .500 overall record (15-15). Both teams finished 7-11 in conference but somehow DePaul didn't get a NIT bid...? I really felt that DePaul should have been in the NIT as well. Especially considering DePaul got a 5 seed in the NIT with the basically the same. Overall win .500 percentage and conference record (7-11). Glad to see they made the post season in the CBI. Baby steps for them since they haven't had any kind of post season for a long time, and for the overall growth of the BIG EAST to have all 10 programs playing post season basketball...
