As a comparison, in 2014-2015, BC's coach made about $1 million. So even the poor performing schools in major conferences pay way more.

The degree of thinly disguised animosity some have against the man is baffling to me. The article in The Athletic is very well done. It is telling that he is far more classy about his exit than most of his detractors. I wish him well in wherever he lands to coach next (except someplace like Syracuse, of course). Hear ye, hear ye. III was and is an excellent coach, and the attacks on him were and are mind-boggling to me.

JT3 probably does have the resume for a struggling power 5 school to take a chance on. I still think this would be a good match between program and personality.

After the 2007 Final Four, I thought we were back in the top tier for good. Little did I know, that was the pinnacle for the next decade. Can’t believe Nova has won two championships in the past three years and we haven’t been to the NCAAs in five years. It’s not for lack of spending money.

GW job now open. Wouldn't have to sell his house and move/ Some of us were discussing this at the tournament. I think it’s a good fit in a conf where his offense would work. The other topic: the UNLV job is open. If you were that school, would you consider Rick Pitino?

He should get away from DC, if he wants a fresh start.

Staying in DC and coaching at GWU would be a very interesting move for the city.

I'd love to see him at Washington State with the Cougars. He would even have a nice, interesting rivalry with Mike Hopkins and the Huskies.

Maybe if Mike Jarvis is willing to comeback to DC, he could bring them back to relevance. Perhaps JTiii is willing to accept the challenge, let's wait and see how it'll unfold.

It would make me really happy to see him take another job and succeed in it.

The "somehow" on GW is actually pretty easy to comprehend when you read this article (on top of the Lonergan "scandal" that started the ball rolling). Warning: you'll want to take a shower after reading this -- and will be thankful that, for all our issues and problems (even of late on the tennis/admissions front), we are not THIS... It does make me think that JTIII's impeccable personal credentials and repute do make him a very good fit down the street -- at least from the GW perspective... deadspin.com/the-real-story-behind-the-lewd-video-and-bitter-feud-th-1830223615

If JTIII wants to coach again, he should get the opportunity. I don't begrudge him wherever he wants to go. I do think GW would be an interesting fit. He obviously knows the city, and it'd create some interesting buzz around town. I do think with his resume he could get a major conference job, I just have no idea whether he would want that. He seems like a natural fit for a league like the A-10. It's possible to play at a high level but doesn't have the same recruiting struggles as the major conferences.
Of course, this opens the hypothetical in which JTIII coaches a mid major to the Tournament and then, as a double-digit seed, they upset highly-ranked Georgetown. That'd be a difficult irony to take. But right now I'll dream of any day in which Georgetown is again highly ranked.

First thing he will need to recruit a center who can stand at the top of the key and swipe at opposing guards.

I understand why, but I think John Thompson Jr. gets off pretty easily for the way he left the program. When he left in 1999, he left Esherick a huge mess (even though he was a terrible coach, he didn't get a good circumstance to inherit), by quitting mid-season he basically forced Esherick on the university (rather than having a search), and he did a poor job of maintaining the huge momentum he built in the 1980s. "He left Esherick a huge mess" ignores the fact that Esherick was our lead recruiter who made the mess he stepped into.

In the three years prior to Craig's elevation to head coach, the program had eight early departures, most in the backcourt (Myles, Iverson, Page, Nichols, Jones, Sheffey, Brunner, Long). It's not clear that Kirby is in charge of recruiting or just a regional recruiter. Ewing seems to do a lot of this on how own. Orr and Waheed, I don't know.
